Manager's of a server should be aloud to enjoy Graal as much as you and me.
Therefore Deophite should be aloud to enjoy his time on UN, as I've noticed nothing has really screwed up on Era and the server is running fine which means his maintaining it well. Therefore his a good manager

If the staff under him are happy, that usually means he's doing his job pretty well (considering they're the ones who know better than anyone else what he's doing). Though, they could just be ass-kissing because it's a public poll.

I think Deo is getting way too much credit than he deserves.

From what I see, it's the developers that are putting the most effort into the server. Deo is just the guy that sits there approving projects that are brought up by players and other staff members. Why not show appreciation to the people that are actually making things happen? Anyone can sit there and tell people what to do.

Like what? Typical roles or qualities required of management include leadership, providing motivation, team building, planning, reviewing and liaising with both players and members of staff. Deo has shown all of these qualities, there are no outstanding issues, so therefore one would assume that he is deserving of any credit he might receive.

Just curious...how often do you play Era? I don't get on very often, but when I did, I don't remember seeing you very much.

I don't play Era, but I know a lot of the current staff. As the manager deals with the staff, while the development administrator (or whatever position Tig has) deals with the development, I don't have to be a player to understand if Deophite is doing his job or not.

If you're expecting a manager to have to develop, you're expecting too much of management. It helps to know how to develop, but you can manage just fine without being able to. It's all about managing your server - keeping it in tact.

Sitting around doing nothing is not fun for a lot of people...it's not like you're getting paid to be the manager, so why not do something?

In order to become the manager in the first place you either have to kiss the right asses or you work your own ass off. Either way, I doubt your end goal is to slack off.

I never said he'd do nothing. Honestly I don't know what he does or what he doesn't do. All I'm saying is either you can overwork yourself or let other people do the dirty work. Since theres no reward by personally doing it (unless you just feel like accomplishing something), I wouldn't be surprised if he let his underlings handle most of the work.

I agree Frankie us the developers are working hard but we never get any credit when it's deserved. I have to say though isn't that mostly a managers job is to approve of things and making sure everythings running smoothly, you don't have to develop when you are a manager but people like to myself and others.

You don't have to be dev to make a difference. I'd like to think many of the non dev have made a difference into era. Which shows you do not need dev skills to necessarily make a difference. For example:

-Zoo, was an active and loyal eta
-Squirt, Loyal and active GPA

and i think some of the FAQ's deserve some recognition too. Rachel, Sigma, and Nataxo, are really active FAQ's.

(I didn't feel like naming the active Et's and Gp's but you get my point <3)

When your a new player to a server you don't care about who the dev team is. You care about who the people are thats going to be helping you. Having the people mentioned above im sure helped many new people come to Era, just as having great dev work does. Okay with my shout outs aside, I think Deophite is a great manager, and im not saying it becuase im staff; im saying it because so far he has been there when the money was spawned, when items were spawned, and such. He's active on Era, which is an important feature for a manager. He may not always be on player, he is always somewhere to be found, whether its on RC, or im sure on AIM. We have had managers that are Devs and fail, so having Dev skills make no difference.

I think if anyone Daz deserves to be manager, and like daz said all the credit goes to Tig/angel/etrican/dh/ blah blah, NOT DEO.

And because hes not currupt and doesnt abuse is a HORRIBLE reason to keep someone as manager, reguardless of how much past managers screwed up it never caused this much of a outrage between the Era community. Look at Smu he USD'd for like 2 grand but even after that no one ran to the forums and made a poll about how horrible he was
