People will find a way. It's very easy to restrict things in a single enclosed level. Yet there are some effects and functionalities available ONLY on the gmap (Cars, Helis, Nukes, etc. etc.) above and beyond the original restrictions, which would have to be applied to multiple levels, probably at odd sizes. I personally just see a huge workload for no positive gain.
I can see it now; trying to drive a car through the arena wall.
Calling in an airstrike from under a tree nearby.
Map launching nukes.
Tossing a P4 you planted and picked up a mile away just to bypass the restrictions.
Helicopters...?
I can go on.
Beyond this, it would require an area the size of, if not larger than, the soccer field. The area around it would have to be no-pk for observers, and would have to be substantial in size (at-least a dozen tiles around the perimeter of the arena) to prevent basic grenade/fire/projectile effect interactions, as well as pk-flag abuse (surrounding it with bombs/melee lame). I picture like a Sparring Colosseum.
Further beyond, the arena itself would have to be placed within a single gmap level, or the scripts might not function properly/passing through gmap levels resets projectiles & causes lag. (Oh that guy is walling me? let me just hop through this level link to reset his projectiles, crap it lagged me for 2 seconds *axe)
An area fitting this description, within a radius from unstick me to the current sparring complex simply doesn't exist.
