Another new level.

Yes another new level. I've been bored out of my mind. In this level I made it a inside/outside level. I personaly think that the walls I did look very well done and fit the style of the level itself. Please give feedback and comments.

looks good, you should make the table a little more crazy and curvy, though. it looks a little plain, being huge and rectangle.

If it were smaller then maybe it wouldn't look so empty.

Yeah. I guess I was hoping the table would just take up enough space but I guess not. xd

Yeah, make the table a little curvy. Also lol, the first thing I noticed was the uneven statues.... throw a x=+.5; on them, then they'll look nice!

I do not like your choice of walling, specifically the chimney tiles; I suggest redoing it.
I suggest creating branching-out threads from the main sand path.
I suggest redoing the table so that it is not layered; currently it looks confusing, unrealistic, and error-ridden. I suggest keeping the general shape but making the table one single level.
I suggest adding more seats for players to sit.

I particularly like the way you built the legs under the seat in the bottom left of your level.

I would like to note your thin grass "island" in the bottom middle of your dirt path. There is a tile that you can use in the middle to help corner both sides. See my attachment.

Just because you can detail grass with those tiles doesn't mean you should use them for filler, personally I'd rather look at open grass than the below unless they're arranged in some sort of appealing pattern or grouped with certain tiles where it makes sense to use them.

The sand path could look a bit better if it was evened out but they're weird but I have trouble myself trying to get them to look good as well.

The bricks should be used to outline a path or point a player in a direction, using them as random filler doesn't work well.

Other than that I like the Inside/Outside context.

Don't those small dirt patches block?

edit: ah, just the single dirt one does... which I always found very odd and annoying.

The little pebble ones do yes, but the patches do not.

Most of your levels are open, pointless space. What's going on? Further more, it's an inside. Something should be going on man :/

I think it's fine, looks good. He's just making a level, not like he's making a level, for a dev server.

Even if it's just for show, the main concept behind levels is having a purpose. This one just looks like hedged walls with a table. There needs to be something interesting, even if it's just eye candy :/

Yeah, but u said "Most of your levels are open, pointless space." Well, on most of the servers I worked on, and the one I owned, the LAT's levels were always empty at the begining, unless they knew how to Script, or GFX. Usually, they make the level, then "whoever" comes, and fills it up with the scripts/images of it's purpose...then it's put to use.

Attached is a screenshot of your level. In red, I outlined things I thought were tile errors. In yellow I outlined tiling that I suggest you redesign for the sake of style and visual appeal (for the swamp patches, consider using the tiles I outlined in red in the second attachment). Outlined in violet is a bush that is placed on grass-grass layering that I suggest you move so that it flows more logically.

Added the other moss to corners, and fixed tile errors.
The ones connecting to the fence posts look good in my opinion so I kept them there.

Well, it's meant to be eye candy, so the level should look good WITHOUT that stuff?

I think levels look better where there is some kind of direction or purpose. If there's no direction, and no purpose, what can I say?

He wants to improve in level design, then he should be doing what level designers do. Give the whole thing purpose and/or direction.

However, I'm flogging a dead horse. I've been guilty of this, most people were guilty of this, most people are STILL guilty of this.

I agree with Codein. Every level should have a focal point, or at least an intended purpose behind it.

Panther, I attached another screenshot of your level where I outlined some more areas of concern. In red is a single tile error I found concerning grass-grass layering and the positioning of the nearby fence. I suggest you consider moving the layering outside (above) the fence or below it so avoid what I consider to be an error.

In yellow, I outlined areas of style concern. It is small, but when making the swamp patches, use the full patches (the original ones you used before my previous post) for the middles, and simply change the outside tiles (not the outside patches) with tiles from the swamp edging that I told you of in my last post.

In violet I outlined the patch of swamp edging that I assume you forgot to remove before taking a screen shot and posting it.

To me, this level looks like an entranceway (note the two doors and the path connecting them). I have no qualms about the "purpose" of his level. Once/if Panther takes my most recent suggestions to heart, I think his level will have been successfully completed.

Good work.

The purpose of the level was a entrance to a forest-type dungeon.
And I fixed the errors on the moss, so here it is complete.
