Yeah, just browsing a few vB sites, even the ones that suck, they all have shout boxes. Also, it WILL cut down on off topic posts. But it also may cause severe laziness D:

vB has a "vB plaza". It basically allows you to buy cool stuff, such as colored nicknames, custom display profiles, etc. It's also free. I mean, there are a lot of things that can improve graal's forums so they're not so... boring.
Cons: Of course, laziness with shoutbox, but that can't really be to much of a big deal because of the "prune" command. Spamming... The shout boxes can be spammed, but also pruned, time delayed between each entry, and just.. stuff
vB plaza uses points per post. That means each post you get a certain amount of points, so if someone were to say, troll, or just spam a certain thread then delete it so it's basically undetected, you could earn points unnoticed. Well, not completely, but you could sure gain some points :P

Making certain boards not count towards your post count / point count.
Again, just a few extra ideas to make the graal community not bored.
