Re-make or make new?

This should be interesting.

You have a playerworld and a full team of dedicated developers. Would you re-make an old project, or would you make a new idea?

Depends. I voted to remake, because there are some awesome playerworld projects which have died (for example, Sands of Glory died when it just needed a few changes).

Depends really.
There were some really good servers in the making, or that just were forgotten, but remakes have never gone well.

I personally couldn't imagine working on another playerworld project other then Mythic, so for good or bad, I'd chose with remake.

However, it generally depends on your server idea etc. - but in most cases I'd go for remake!

But what if there was a great server that died due to lack of development staff? That good idea will never have a chance to flourish.

Re-creating a server's advantage's:

• Finish what someone got started

• Can save a lot of time

• Bring back fun and good memories

Re-creating a server's disadvantage's:

• Not get much credit (But who cares)

• Confused on where to start

Either way remaking or not is still a good idea. I would love to see some of the old dead servers revive, such as Maloria, or Babylon.

This may apply to "Confused on where to start", but it's still worth mentioning that another problem is people's differing views on what made the server so good. I'm assuming any recreation of a server is intended to not be exactly how it was, but rather preserve what's important, while making use of modern mechanics.

I say new. If anything, I would reuse an overworld of one of the many servers that have fallen into oblivion because it's one of the things I can't do on my own.
There are numerous problems when you reuse old content... most of the time you have to redo it all anyways. On the far end of the spectrum, people redo it to the point it's not recognizable and just slap the old servers name on it hoping to garner attention of those who loved it.

If you're going to put that much effort into a server, why not simply make it your own?

If we decided to rename Vesporia to Sands of Glory (which Vesporia evolved from) we'd get a lot of publicity for a completely different server.
