3.0 has nothing to do with Graal Kingdoms...when he gets around to it, he will finish the GK stuff but right now he is focusing on finishing 3.0 for MAC and Windows..

I'd like to take a moment to hawk ATI's Radeon graphics cards.

If you don't have a Radeon 9??? or a good excuse not to get one (Slow or absent AGP slot, late-model nVidia card, laptop only, no money and no line of credit) you should get one. But as a word of advice, you might want to use Red Hat 8 instead of the barely-improved 9.

I still can't find the dungeon generator that was said to be in ver. 2.19 rev. 1

Does anyone here have it?

Is it just me, or is the allowing of only VIP players to play using the Linux client online just a ruse to make it appear as though they are finally getting something? There's really no reason for it other than this in my opinion. Maybe the things that were promised to them should be given rather than giving them trivial things such as this. It's only going to hurt business more once you get all these people trying to put Linux on their computer to play Graal and not knowing anything about getting 3D Acceleration working. It's already began to happen..just look at the OpenGL threads..

Amen brother.

And- Windows is the Monopoly and most users of graal have windows (Yes, that means more VIPs have Windows then Linux) so why make them go through all this trouble of screwing up their computer when you could just first come out with the version that most people's computers support, then do the minorities?

nobody is officially telling people that they should install Linux.. it's up to everyone on their own whether they want to or not, so I don't understand how we're making anyone "screw up" their computer

technically, 3.0 is a lot different from 2.19, but from a player aspect, right now, it's very similar besides some GUI changes etc. -- it's not as if you're missing Graal 3D or some big change in the way you play

3.0 is the first that works on other operating systems (not only windows), which is the major change... it makes sense to code for another operating system first to me

they could've decided to not release any until it's all done and for every operating system, but then it would still be weeks if not months from now before you have anything, and more people would've complained about it "being late" etc. -- so why do you complain when you do get something?

3.0 will be out for mac and windows soon too, and probably for only VIPs online first... (could be wrong)

just can't make everyone happy at once I guess

There is no reason to screw up your computer by installing Linux.

Anyway, I'm actually happy he made it for Linux first. Everyone was always talking about how great it is but I never had the guts to try it thinking it was hard. With this, it gave me something to look forward to and now I see how good Linux is.

Plus, people should know what they're going to get into by installing Linux. It's not cake-and-pie usually and takes some work to get going correctly.

Well, my argument wasn't really about people screwing up their computers...It was more about I don't see the justification in allowing VIPs to play it online first other than to make it appear as if they are actually getting something for the extra money they've paid. The 3D Acceleration thing was more of a side note. Personally I don't really care about it too much because the Windows version is fine and I need to put SuSE back on my computer anyway (semi-long story there)...Still, I don't see any good reasoning behind the decision...if the client were beta, then maybe the reasoning would be better, but no where have I seen anything indicate this...In a way though, Graal 3 IS Graal 3D since it includes the code that will allow for 3D rendering...Still, it seems more of a ruse to make it look like VIPs are getting what they paid for.

What's your opinion on Red Hat Network subscribers who got RH9 a week before its public release?

Well, I think that's perfectly fine. They do afterall pay for a service that helps keep Red Hat in business, so I think it's only fair for them to get somethin' extra.

Don't get me wrong, I don't really have too much of a problem with the VIPs getting to play the Linux client online first....they deserve something to tide them over until VIP is actually worth paying for, but I just don't really see a good justification for the move other than to make it appear like they are getting what they paid for. I'm not really thrilled about it because I'm not a VIP, but in all fairness they should get something extra...I just don't see why this is offered to an audience that for the most part doesn't even use Linux...that's all.

I was one of those RH9 subscriber folks (my 60-day Pro box subscription just ran out a couple days ago) and the servers were so atrocious that I think it may have been public by the time it'd actually download. I went back to 8 after the only ATI driver I could find resulted in xcursor issues that drove me looney.

You missed my point. The RHN and getting RH releases early is pretty much identical to VIP and getting the Linux client early and so forth. You can't approve of one and disapprove of the other, that's hypocritical.

I'm angry about RHN, and graal (sorta) did the same thing as it

You have to take a survey like every month on RHN now to keep your "demo" account so you can get updates and stuff, but they also put a user quota on up2date so if the load is high, the demo users have to wait an eternity

now only VIPs can test beta stuff online & have to pay for it, and regular users have no chance at all to get it unless they pay

The player list on Linux has some problems, the players are not sorted and sometimes PMs get lost when there are strange characters in the text (press F2 to see error messages). I will work on that soon.

The windows version will be released in a few days too, it will be resticted to VIP until everything is working fine and it is a really advantage over the normal client.

Good news:
The Mac version is ready! Now we only need to prepare the setup files and may be fix a little problem with non-ascii-characters in fonts, so it will be released in a few days.

Are you gonna continue to work on the Linux client to get rid of some of the little bugs it has? It's really nice other than a few minor things like the inability to mass message

I am a Vip / Gold member and i agree with what you are saying but you are making it sound alot worse then it really is. Every Vip member should know before they bought there accounts that they get to beta test any new graal releases and get some other extas.

I have just tryed Graal 3.0 on Mandrake 9.1 I really thing the present version of Graal 3.0 is just a beta test becouse there is a few bugs that should be fixed before it is released to non Vip Graal public. Graal 3.0 dose work alot faster , but there is no level editor , you cant mass message, you have to run in openGL (Not abad thing for people that have cards that can support it) , the graal messaging list has a transparent background making it a bit difficult to read ( there should be some option for choosing the background for the messaging list ) , when loading to the Graal server list the mouse can some time freeze in the graal window , the graal messaging list is not cauterised into diffrent sections making it hard to tell who is on you buddies list , what staff are on , what guild members are on etc.... , thats just the bad stuff but at least the game runs alot faster then normal the graphics look a lot nicer using OpenGl the Direct draw.

You might not be also aware that when the new graal pw hosting system is released Vip members that have pw projects will be given New tools , New graphics , New Scripts that are not released to the public. I have not been talking to Tyhm sense a fews ago , but he told me why things a heading Vip members might alone be aloud to apply for pw hosting sense they are the only ones bothered to buy a Vip account for extra tools.

(I apologize if i dont make much sense and any for my bad english grammar but i really have too much of a hang over from last night to really give a crap , sorry , normally i read over what i say but i really dont feel like it now LoL:-) )
