"Newbie" I can understand. But "noob" (or, if you prefer, "n00b") has become just a general, all-purpose insult for any online game. What it basically says is "Your skillz are infinitely inferior to mine. You are below pond scum. Observe as I 0wn your ass." I guess it's a relative term; the insultee is a n00b in comparison to the insulter.
As such, I have no problem even with using it myself.
