You completely misunderstood what I said. He asked where the sword came from like you have to have an answer for everything. Games can't have an answer for everything, because that's foolish. I meant that no one in their right mind would write up details about how the players exist and how every single thing was made. I didn't mean that stuff couldn't exist, I just don't think everything needs a reason to be there in a simple game.
I'm athiest so God doesn't fly with me anyway.
edit: I just think it's silly that where you got your sword has to be so important. If you want to get down to the nitty gritty, where did the player get their clothes?

In that case your player has to be born, come out naked, get clothes, live a childhood, etc. Your sword would have to have the materials collected, taken to a blacksmith, created, sold, and given to you. Now do you really need to get in that much detail?
