I think a good reason for making it 10 tickets instead of 1 is granularity.
If you have 10 tickets that cost 5k total or 1 ticket that costs 5k, I'd rather take the 10 tickets, since If you don't want to commit a whole 5k to a raffle, you can just buy 3 or 8 or however many you want of them.

Yeah, this was really the point. I was torn between just having one ticket so everyone has a 100% equal chance and having like even more than ten tickets (mo' money when you don't have a lot of people playing).
As it stood, we had 90 people on for the raffle, and I think we sold just over 500 tickets. Pretty awesome! But at the same time, that's only like 250k when the gun is valued around 900k.
So really it's a matter of balancing fairness to the less-fortunate players while not giving the gun away for free.
