Idling @ Bomb Trade

I wanted to ask what the reason for idling in bomb trade is? Why don't you get disconnected, when idling in there. I think it's kind of frustrating when you come online and all you see is dead people standing there. Whenever you pm somebody, you get no answer, because in fact that persons aren't there at all. Shouldn't this be removed, so that it's clear who is really aviable, and who's not?
It's dissapointing to come online, because you think there are 15 active player and in fact noone's there. I see no reason in "collecting" onlinetime, by letting your computer+graal run, while you are sleeping.

It's intransparent for people, logging on, aswell as for noobs, who never get answers from players. I think it would be better to remove this idle-type of not getting disconnected because of not moving, since it does not display the real playercount/activity. Pointless thing here imo.

What do you guys think of it (not getting disconnected at bomb trade room)? Are you for or against it?

I'm not particularly for or against idling, but just wanted to point out that in the playerlist, players who are idling are marked with an "idling" icon (assuming you and they are on v6).

I don't see any reason for not allowing idling in bomb trade. As Chris pointed out it shows who's idling and who isn't. I like to leave GK running over night to catch PMs from people who don't usually play at the same time as me due to time zone differences.

You can use AIM/MSN or whatever instead though.

So both have to use v6, so that idling is shown in playerlist? v5 doesn't change into that mode, or did I get you wrong?

The idling icon works for me and I'm on v5. Unless I somehow stealth installed v6 but I don't think so...

It's not about the idling icon itself. I just see no reason why this "fake playercount" should be allowed at all. It doesn't represent the real playercount. Whenever I log on, to play or chat a bit (or whatever), I have to realize, that noone's there.
In fact it's a "10 sec checklogon" if anyone is here. That function is pointless and irritating especially to new players, who think they get no response because they're noob. It should be an active server, and not simply a chatroom, where you idle.

I don't see how this is an issue. The idling icon is pretty clear. You log on and see a bunch of idlers? Log off if you don't like it. It takes 10 seconds of your time to log on and check the playerlist. There are bigger issues than idlers to worry about.

As far as I know, both players need v6—but v6 will be mandated soon anyway.

I don't quite understand why some people are against people idling, games have people who idle all the time, why decide to inconvenience those who idle over those who don't for "just because!".

I noticed you also voted against forced bmode in the recent poll. If you want changed like this it's better to suggest a way to discourage it rather than outright disabling it.

Forced bmode has nothing to do with this or did you guys plan to make tradehouse bmode aswell? Forced bmode would only make sense if kingdoms on gk get important again, like it was back in 2005 and so on. (defending your mates etc). If we force people to have b-mode right now, then the strongest will lame the weaker non-topgear ones which will make the "neat" gk community a damn hell on earth for low budget players and haters will ruin the community. Make Stefan Knorr invest some money on ads, to raise pc-graals popularity, like it was in the early 2000years when he used the name "zelda online", which made graal popular, even though nintendo complained. Back in 2000, when akira, nychris, tecmush, shobre, majin, james and all that guys played, the only thing we needed were kingdoms who fought each others. If someone was afk standing there, he fkn got banged, so there was no idling. Almost everyone was b-mode, because we defended ourselves. But now? Who shall i defend if I went b-mode? Maybe the dancing Bokolf in bombtrade, if he joins my kingdom?
Gk needs players, needs noobs, needs attention and some advertisment, but that's a manager-question and not a question of turning b-mode on for everyone.
I'm really thankful for the staff, trying to reactivate this server but we won't e able to, unless we rename this game to "zelda online" again but I guess Nintendo wouldn't be that happy about it, like in the old times, even though GRAAL became famous through that copyright"mistake". I played this game, since I was 12. Now I am 23 and the only thing keeping me so interested in this Game are the memories from early days and the hope it'll become like that again. (sry if I made typing errors, cuz typing on iphone)

We've got forums for "non active" pms. No need in staying online the whole night to get a message. That's not a good argument, since you can't answer if the person is offline, after you received the message. You need to wait for a moment, being online together again anyways to communicate.

Players on GK hardly use the forums. Players only come to the forums to see what we post. Since they aren't required to sign up to view the post they don't even bother.

Then implant some kind of messanger in game, where you can send messages to each other, even if the person is offline. Something like a mail account. If a player is in idling mode, it shouldn't count them towards the active playercount of the server that is displayed.

It's a fake and disappointing thing to have to do to make it seem like GK isn't dead, as much as it amuses me for you guys to think there are people online, it really shouldn't pull a guise over and make the server seem more successful than it really is.

I have nothing against it, if people want to enhance their lack of active lifestyles by padding their online time then so be it. But from a somewhat outside pov, I don't like seeing fake player counts displayed. And it's making zone look bad.

As far as the 'getting pms' and 'messenger' thing goes, maybe you could make the mailbox and letter system much more simplistic and allow players to leave each other messages in a more interactive way.

Misty mug tavern for new "no-disconnect" place is a good idea felix. Dunno what your problem is, since for now MMT is dead. It would at least make it worth existing.

I don't know what you expect would happen if we change the no disconnect area to MMT. It's not magically going to bring business to MMT (newflash bro: people don't buy food). It's not going to skyrocket the playercount. I don't know what you're fishing for here but it sounds like you have no clue what you're talking about.

Can players who are idling have there emot's changed to "zzZZzz" (ctrl+z) one? It might help people who don't look at playerlist and instead just run up to players and try asking questions..

MIGHT help some of the confusion

I too like to catch players from other timezones that I once met, on those days when I too... was awake when they were.. for the once in a life time encounter.. you know where im going with this point.. and some people just do not use aim, msn, icq, skype.. anything.. at all..and i know people who used to use aim that no longer do becasue to many people spam them.. since seeing a player on a server requires you to be on the game.. and aim.. well everyone just logons on when ever.. its MUCH easier to be spammed. so alot of people stopped using it. I have a huge list over 300+ graal players and some people havent logged on in years.. yet play graal daily..

it's not about a fake player count.. who gives a crap about that.. GK can be played alone.. u just go around and kill stuff.. u dont really need to interact with other players except for questions.. i know i spent MONTHS playing without talking to anyone.. except my brother who also started playing when I did.

I think his point is alot of players go to bomboria trade and those people are all idling.. rarely will they go into mmt and be pissed off no one is talking to them. or so thats the idea
