Opinion Needed: I was thinking about making an edit to the nickname gani, and was wondering what you guys want to see in it. Obviously in needs to be kept simple, but I just need some feedback. Font, size, style, effects? I was thinking of either removing the Community name part, or the nickname part and only showing a players community name. Maybe I should re-script the whole thing to make an advanced version of the default looking ones?

Preview of Ponilia. It is going to be one of Lexia's main towns. It will contain a church, general store, info kiosk, pub (hangout) and some random houses that could (*wink*) contain quests. There will be some more greenery added to the level too

If you are interested in applying for the Levels Team, contact me at [email protected].

Another way, which is probably the better way, is to contact me ON Lexia.

Assignments:
  • One random inside level
  • One "Shop" like inside level
  • One outside level

Other:
  • You can do any other levels, but you don't have to.
    Remember, it always looks better on your application though.

Note: Don't forget to use Lexia's tileset.

The general store building has been completed. The inventory is also being worked on and should be finished soon Thank you 0PiX0 for that

The trees don't really match the rest of the tileset, but otherwise it looks nice.

They do look a bit different in a picture, but I was going to change them to a more matching orange autumn colour.

General store building has been completed. Find it the the west of Ponilia. This will be the home to many weapons, items and spells (when we get round to making the spell system) The building is without a inside yet.

I want to introduce the story line idea for Lexia to you all. Obviously, I haven't been contacted by anybody yet who seems intrested in writing up this idea into something a bit mote exciting, but please, bear with me.

You start your journey on a sky vessel traveling through Lexian space. I caught this idea from the final fantasy games, and Mercy has a great graphic for a sky ship to go with the story too. Anyway, you re traveling through space after an ancient war subsided on your old planet, Laria, and you awoke from your slumber to find nothing but wreckage from the war on the surface of Laria. Your species did the only thing they could to survive. Set out into the black beyond. Your vessel finds a planet nearby, that has the same climate and gas levels that Laria had, and decide to make it your new home. They name the planet Lexia, in memory of the old planet destroyed by black magic and war. Over the ages, your species forgot most of the teachings from their ancestors. You must reclaim your knowledge of flight and travel back to Laria, were an old ancient secret has woken from it's slumber.

Images are attached for the space level, and I hope you find them appealing. I tried to make the stars look like one of Aeko's images I saw on a forum thread. Black sky at night. Thanks!

The first level as part of the upcoming tutorial / story line quest has been finished. It is the level upon the Lemain. The Lemian is the sky ship you are traveling on while fleeing from Laria. The Lemian is going to consist of 3 - 4 levels with NPC's and information marks. Screenshot attached. Added a warp field to the 2nd level attached. That is the exit from the Lemian to the Lexian OSL that will no longer be the OSL after the Lemian and the animation is coded and finished. I don't think I will be releasing the Lemian until the inventory is finished, so the big update can come all-in-one.

I have scripted a very simple hat system, that only allows you to equip hats you already have in your client flags. You will be able to receive hats on various different occasions like when Lexia opens, Christmas, easter etc. It is pretty much a bare-bone hat system, but it will do for now

Trimaster is now working on developing the church and will be helping out a lot on Lexia. Thank you trimaster! Images attached below.

Thats some sweet stuff, nice work. Instead of displaying item quantities directly in the hud you should consider having a bag icon which when clicked will open a gui displaying various item quantities complete with pretty icons. Or, perhaps just have the gui open via the pushing of a key. Anyway, keep up the good work!

That's an amazing idea, but I don't have the skill to do it.
If you tell me what the default Graal sack icon is called, I will at least give it a go

It actually should be able to achieved relatively easily to achieve, use gui elements a scrolling list with 3 items listed in each row, I've seen some of your past scripts so you should be able to achieve this then all thats left is top it off with some nice graphics.

After a swarm of players came out of nowhere, they made it very clear they didn't like the way your hats were being displayed (server PM (half of them couldn't even answer the PM)), so I decided to make a very simple GUI. I will add equipping and un-equipping after I study up on selectedrow() and all that jazz.

Double clicking now sets hats. Will remove the sethat command soon. Also increased the row size inside the GUI.

The hat system has now been improved, and packed into a GUI format, that you can equip hats with. We are accepting hats now, since we are very slowly drifting away from that very deep stage of development, and want to start introducing fun features for players, and keep them interested. Heck, we have even a couple of regular players who have been on nearly all day! It's certainly looking good for Lexia.

Some things that have come to my attention though. Even though there is a very large piece of text in the osl on the wall saying to say '/info' if you have any problems and questions, and also putting several bits of information in the startup PM, players don't seem to read anything and start to spam the staff with questions. This can be very difficult when you are trying to work and even though that comes with the job of running a server, does anybody have any ideas as to how I can make the info stand out to players?

You could just make the server staff only for a few weeks to let you and your team really knuckle down and get some development done without any distractions.

Added an updated hat system. It is easier to add players hats and also supports hat names instead of saying the hats image. Working on the crystal mining level has started and should be finished shortly.

Added a help icon to the top left of your screen (screenshot attached), and it shows some server commands in the F2 game window. Now, players will stop asking how to remove their hats! Also increased the font size so it is a bit more visible.

Changed the chat and nicknames to an orange colour to get ready for Halloween! There will hopefully be a few surprises and some new levels for you guys to check out soon enough.

Allowing players online during the development stages is a bad idea simply because the staff will get distracted and want to interact with the player along with play the server and not work. There are also bugs you have to think about as well. If they let players on while there running test for bugs and updating systems and levels than all that's going to do is make player complain about this and that. Instead they keep it locked so that when they open it, its perfect and playable.

Aside from that I like how much progress the server is making looks like it will be fun and maybe something new, at least to me.

Assuming your server gets to Classic, having a "____ logged onto Lexia" message would be extremely annoying. Why not make it where it takes from your buddy list or allow a player to make a list so that it only shows those people logging on? I think that would be useful

Crystal mining is almost complete! All it needs now is it's gani and some detail added to the level. The warp pillar to the left of the osl has been removed because the warp pillar linked to the store, and the store on the GMAP is now in place.
