My Suggestions for a Better Zone.

Hey guys, it's Hato, .

Now that I have returned to Zone as both a player and staff, I thought of a few things that I think need improving or could be added to Zone which I put into a fancy bulleted list.

NEW IDEAS
  • Achievements: Oh my, do I ever love these. Achievements are a big part of what keeps me playing my games, such as *COUGH* Left 4 Dead *COUGH*. If Zone were to have achievements, I think it would be fun trying to attain them all. For earning an achievement, you could give a certain money reward. For example...

    Achievement Name: Stop the Slaughter!
    Description: Kill 10 enemies without dying.
    Reward: 500$.

    If you think about the achievements you could have on Zone, I could come up with AT LEAST 100. Along with the community, we could probably gather up even more. There could also be an in-game checklist that you yourself can view, and other players can view as well. Harder achievements would give more money. Or you could always copy Microsoft and have points. :3.

IMPROVEMENTS
  • New Gun Sounds: My oh my, I think we desperately need some new gun sounds. No offense, but I can't stand the sound of my appirces, as they sound silenced and just annoying. Same with the magnums, the current sound just sounds silenced (Which is silly, considering none of our weapons are). Also, we should try and have more unique sounds for the guns, considering quite a few of them use the same sound file.
  • Reload Button: When I left Graal, I played FPS....a lot. Of course, I love the reload button. Not having it on Zone, is an inevitable pain in the ass. I hate having to put away my weapon and draw it back out, or shoot my whole entire clip to reload. I think it'd be pretty simple to add a reload button, wouldn't it?

I don't see a reason to have a reload button, it reloads automatically at end of clip. Unless, you have OCD where you need to have like a certain number of bullets it's fine lol.

You only unlock the achievement once. Meaning you would only get $500 once...

I think those are great ideas, epecially achievements. I'm tired of having to fight the same players, over and over and over again. Getting killed by the same ones too -.-.

I like all of these. Especailly the reload button. Some new sounds would make me actually turn the sound on...

Strategy. When you're playing in an FPS, you reload when the fighting has calmed down... it gives you the ability to save a full clip for combat, instead of running out in the middle of a fight and having to reload... just because you went into the fight with 5 bullets in your clip.

Ya I know that, but this is Zone. It takes about half a second to reload.

Zone doesn't play like a FPS tho, and the only time you really need to prematurely reload is after a battle when taking the time to put away and redraw your gun won't result in death. However if there was a slight reduction in reload time if you reload before your clip is empty then it could be worthwhile.

A reload button would be cool and easy to do, I agree with the achivements also, kinda like xbox gamerpoints..

I can guarantee you I lost many times in events because I couldn't recharge in a good moment, and a finishing hit always would always end in a reload... Well, not just events, but I mean, I would have been able to get rid of some quite challenging person, but the recharge just made it's worse agian...

i like yours

i wast thinking something more like
Missions. every other game i have played has something u need 2 do such as
- be on the winning team 10 times on iciria for some zone money. (will go from 10 to like 50 more and 100 more so on)
- win # spar's for some zone money. (goes up same as last one)
- capture # bases one iciria form zone money. (goes up same way)
- capture enemy flag on wild cross # times for zone money. (goes up same way)
(so on)
- kill someone who is using photon # times for zone money.
- kill someone who is using enhanced pulsar # times for zone money.
(so on)
- capture # bases one iciria + kill someone using photon # times = some p2p cloths or something like that.

nothing like get 100 kills with (weapon). Try to do something to get people to actually play and not just try and get more kills.

allot of scripting so idk if this would ever happen.

before someones says something about trials you need to be p2p to do some of the missions.

Description- Stun an enemy vehicle by any means, then take it if they leave it in an attempt to escape.

(Counter-Mech maybe, if you kill the pilot with his own mech.)

I get what you're saying, but why does it matter if you reload when you have 5 shots left rather then with 2 shots left. It's still gonna reload. I would rather get more shots in with less reloads than to be reloading when i still have like 4 shots left.

Because you get to reload on your terms. Reloading is always a very welcome addition into any game with guns... I don't understand why you're so against the idea.

You can start with a full clip
Reloading can be your dead so try to escape it as much as possible.

Guys, reloading isn't a big deal.

Besides, just hit the hotkey again or press a and re-equip the weapon. It's basically reloading, because it refreshes your clip.

To a degree it takes math. You could be not keeping track of how many shots you've fired, in which case you would have no idea how many shots you had left.

Hotkey - Not every player can hotkey.
Hitting A and Re-Taking out weapon - I ALWAYS do this, and it works fine, except you're forced to put your gun away. Takeing out a weapon causes you to freeze for a longer period of time then reloading would. When your getting in an intense fight freezetime really comes into play.

A reload button, hotkey'd to the "F" key would be very nice.

For Chaingun ill dont count the bullets but I still know when I got to reload, I think its expierence.
For SMG the same story.

Chaingun approximately fires 100 to 120 bullets per reload. It's been awhile since I played but I know it's around there somewhere. Still if you have 1000 max bullets, you hold S and it now says you have 954 bullets left. You should be able to understand how many bullets you have fired.

Doing the math doesn't really work, during a spar. Hotkey'ng Reload to F Key doesn't seem to difficult.

Yes, but remember I might have pressed A to store my weapon and the clip restarts, thus making it dificult to keep the count on it. Oh, and if the weapon recharges after 16 shots but you dual wield, it comes to 8 shots, and I mean, 1000, 992, 984 and going down, at, say, 568, it's not easy to know your next recharge unless you know all of 8's multiples (Not sure on this in enlglish :P )

I think this whole "reloading" thing is splitting hairs, now. It's more like an unintentional "anti-laming doohicky" (Say wha?). Ever notice that the photon needs to reload more (about after 10 shots) than the other plasma rifles? This situation doesn't really work for energy weapons like the enhanced pulsar (which I may add, was failed to be nerfed,) but I don't think it's a big enough deal to stress so much. (Also, who ever heard of reloading dual pistols under 2 seconds? You'd need a third arm or something to pull that off.)
