A lot of the players will be getting screwed there. Simular with the Ring of War. Logicly only Warriors and Barbarians can wear them, and most the good players with Ring of Wars are Preists, Sorcerers and whatever. They'd be getting steped on.

I take it as a fair assumption that anyone who suggests a class-specific item system can easily realize that there'd have to be a great change of the items themselves. You could start with the existing items as you said, making RoT for theives only. Maybe Warriors and/or Barbs would be able to use RoF/RoC/RoW. I see no problem with that except for... oh wait, Sorcs,Priests, and Alchemists. That's why you start making NEW items. I'm assuming the problem is that the current rings that would be for sorcs, priests, and alchemists would leave those classes at failure. This goes beyond just rings and applies to other items as well.
And it should go beyond items as well. Currently, it's like we're all of the Warrior class (because that's the only one I would imagine being able to perform the skills of several classes in the way we all do), but with extra power. We're like Super Warriors.
But TBH, I don't really think this is what's wrong with GK. In other words, I think GK could be a super-awesome MMORPG while
keeping its class system. So long as maxing out your skill levels is a seemingly impossible task, the class system will lie in choice. Those who choose to focus on wisdom will have advantages as a priest. Those who choose to focus on physique, will have advantages as a barbarian. That's how it is right now. I'm not so sure about the status of max level thing. I know plenty of people have maxed their skill levels from bugs in the past, or maybe other methods. Whatever the current status is, I would say things are much better when that max level is unattainable. IMO, GK's best days were when nobody had reached the max level. This goes for base level also. Though it's much less important, it plays a big role in motivation.
