People usually stop smoking because it will most likely kill them in the end.
GK has never been a threat to my existance so I have never considered quitting.

Seeing as GK and Zone are the only two cash cow servers Graal has left, you'd think they'd be more interested in making them more appealing...

So true. They think G3D will suddenly save them or something.

Well then instead of complaining about it get on your graal editor or gani editor and make new stuff for GK. Like currently I am making a new dungeon for GK. I think Stefan would be pleased to have more help....more people contributing. Basically I usually see him working on stuff. I am helping with this one new dungeon but I might do more yet.

Yes we pay the usd to get more gold time but this isn't like WoW where they have a ton of staff who will update with new content. We as members have been told a few times by Bjorn to submit stuff to him or Stefan. I guess I got lucky that Stefan will be using my dungeon when its fully complete.

New levels won't save GK. Sorry. If it would I'd help but I know more maps aren't going to do anything. GK itself is just plain boring.

I'd be willing (and able) to help out but you gotta tell me what you need.

Yeah, make stuff that won't get uploaded.

There's a pretty good reason why you usually see him and only him working on things.

We could potentially have that, but nearly every user now is not trusted with duties like that.

Stefan/Unixmad made their money. I'm sure they would like more, but as of now it's not a big thing to them. Graal is a side project. It's not their actually job. Newer games hire 24/7 staff team members that get paid to do updates and ****.

Gerami just pm Stefan and see what he would like done..maybe new monsters, dungeon maps, items...etc.

Its not that people aren't trusted its just that you have to get by Bjorn with your monster or map and he has certain things he won't allow.

Adding new content doesn't always fix things. You can't pile gold and diamonds on top of trash and except it to not stink :P
Doing this doesn't address Ed's VALID points about what's wrong or what needs to be done.

A trash can filled with gold and diamonds would not stink.

I think in the past it was argued because people actually still played GK. But I really think they should wipe. Everyone level 1, no items. It might atleast give the server a couple months worth of fun before it disappears.

Then make GK-Classic, and then release the SAME THING, where people can start over, on GK-Reborn, or something of that.

I personally don't care what happens, I definately wont be reupgrading, but I could see 2 differnt servers where the elitists can play by them selves, then everyone on a different server can start over.

Exactly what I'm thinking. From what I remember Graal has always had one flagship server, it's time to let GK go classic.

A reset goes the same just about every time on every server. A bunch of people who hardly play/don't play anymore clamour for a reset. Then it happens and they play for a few weeks then get bored again and the server is left with half the playerbase it had before the reset.

Zodiac's obviously went smoothly, and when Delteria went down and came back up in 2002 (reset of course) it had even more players than before.

Would be neat to see if on the classic list though.

Those servers weren't reset in an attempt to get old players back.

Put Gk to classic....let Zone stay gold.

That way they could get a dev team and more staff without having to worry if a ton of things won't go through.

It would be nice to see two different GK servers. Then we would see if everyone wants a reset or not, lol. Everyone who wants to keep their stuff could stay on the old server, and everyone who wants a "reset" could go to the new one. Then we'll really see which has a higher playerbase.

And then where would they go from there? Keep the server with the highest playerbase? Either way people are getting screwed over.

I know. Isn't it great? :]

Actually, they should keep both, and the one with more playerbase is the one that they focus on updating more. Eventually noone will want to play the other, but it'll be more clear- either a new start (or reset) was the better idea, or it wasn't. And if people do want to play the other- even better... I guess.

I just don't really see this happening.

If GK goes classic, who would gain rights to manage it? I don't think Stefan would manage a classic server.

Ooo, have the 2 servers stay gold at first, and then after a while the less-popular one goes classic, to some different management.

I don't see this happening either actually. It just seems like a nice idea.

Edit: But it seems like there were 2 different ideas that came about.
One was for GK to just go classic.And another idea was for 2 GK's.
I can see GK just going classic if Stefan managed Zone... Who manages Zone anyways?

Like I mentioned in another thread:

Kingdoms -> Classic
Zodiac -> Gold
Zone -> No Change

The playercount is very much tilted in favor of Zodiac. It has proven to be more stable, more played, and more engaging than Kingdoms has in the past few months, and I would have no objection to subscribing for Zodiac, because I like the server. Even more important, it has quite a few people running it that actually know what they're doing.

No, no and NO. GK can NOT become classic. If GK becomes classic, some ***** will get management, make it too complicated, just like all of the other crappy graal servers, hire a bunch of corrupt idiots, and chase all of the cool people away, THEN more people like Ravenblade would play GK, and that would just not be fun at all.

The current problem afaik is, that only Stefan and Björn can transfer stuff of debug to gk.

Another is, that this mudlib stuff of gk seems to be very complicated and very instable, I still renember that the npcserver on debug was constantly broken or something
+ I bet its hard to program.

This is good because it prevents corruption and they ALWAYS upload things when it is needed or when something is completed so that isn't a problem. When kingdom leaders want something uploaded, they can push it to be uploaded. You just have to have enough people willing to support your ideas, etc. I have made stuff and in the same day I had it uploaded onto GK. That's not really an issue.

+ I bet its hard to program.
It's not very complicated really... Pretty simple, you must not know much about developmental work. Also, the reason why the npc server is down a lot because the server is a "debug" server. The entire purpose of a debug server is to test scripts and levels so that they are more stable on the actual server.

Not totally true. Sometimes it takes a couple of days. But yeah, it gets uploaded.

Gambet is on a distinguished road
Zodiac is not even close to being up to par with Gold-server standards, and will most likely never be, because Yen's systems are way too limited.
