The problem with giving bomies stuff like that is because they are all different shapes and sizes. That was the problem when people were trying to think of something similar to hats for them.

The problem with giving bomies BAES is that it's at terribly stupid idea and should never happen, ever. You might as well just be a freaking human if you're going to have arms and legs and whatnot. People have totally ruined what bomies were originally supposed to be and I'm going to try and fix that.

As for the holding of the sword... It looks even sillier to hold the sword down instead of up. It looks like you're already stabbing out at something. It might be possible to hold it down at an inward angle though... I'll experiment with it. As for holding a sword upwards being unnatural... Actually if you're standing in a battle stance you wouldn't be holding your sword down. But I guess since most of the time you're idle you're not really fighting, then you have a point. As for a scabbard.... I could do it like I planned for Oasis and have both scabbard and quiver and even possibly your shield on your back. I'm not sure whether that would be a nice feature or a hindrance for most people though. It's kind of extra work to have to pull your weapons out even after you've equipped them to yourself.

I talked to him and he admitted that it wasn't a very good idea for 2k1. I actually talked to him for a while about bomies and learned the history and some interesting things about them. Bomies for 2k1 are supposed to be more like Yoshis.

He also agreed that his original plans for bomies were totally skewed because of other people getting in on the development. People started making things that looked nothing like bomies and got them uploaded.

edit: In fact, if I recall, he didn't come up with that idea... I don't think he had any control over it once he left and Kyle took over. Then birdbird and some other got involved with the project. If he did indeed come up with BAES, then I guess I'm mistaken. But it's still a really stupid idea. The whole point of having two races was to give them enough differences that people would want to pick one. Not give them exactly the same abilities.

So far I've only found one good LAT and he's doing great work so far. It's really going to help just having him helping with levels. He apparently doesn't want credit for it though, so I can't really reveal who it is.

Oh and I was working on more attributes and things today, here is what I have so far:

There is still going to be a face accessory as well as gloves and neck accessory and earrings as well, so that's still 4 more attributes left to add. I hope this animation can show people exactly how much work is being put into the character alone. :P

uh theres not gonna be like armor or anything right because that would ruin 2k1

i want 5 hearts. Maybe 6. No HP/armor system/etc.

No there are no stats on the armor. It's just for show. There's no stats on the clothing or swords or shields or anything. Everyone will have the same amount of hearts and the same sword power.

but basically we'll be able to purchase/win gear to make us look different from others?

and there will still be free crap to make us look different as well? Thats what I hate about GK the most..EVERYONE HAS THE SAME GOOD ITEMS.

Yes, you will be able to purchase some stuff from shops and win some stuff from events.

There's going to be enough clothing and hairstyles and face styles and skin colors and everything so that nobody needs to look the same. There are no "good" items on Bomy Island. There are some rare items but the rarity will make it impossible for them to be worn by everyone. You'll actually be buying things because you want to wear them for your style/look, not because they are the "best" available items.

The only real difference between this system and the original "setbody" system is that the clothing is not free and that's because I wanted to add variety to the economy. Also with this, people can't just change genders or species or copy people's looks in mere seconds.

It encourages roleplaying because you'll have to stick with the gender you picked from the start, and you have to obtain the clothing you want. I haven't exactly decided what clothing you get when you start out but I think something like dirty rag clothing and a wooden shield and sword would look nice. Maybe there would be a random factor on what color of raggy clothing you get. =P

This doesn't really have anything to do with the encouragement of roleplaying or not. None the less, one look systems are restrictive to roleplaying when playing a new character or a secondary character.

Most people don't roleplay well enough for one character, much less a secondary one.

Actually, "one look systems" and "no secondary characters" are kind of... more valid in a roleplay perspective. By definition, roleplaying means that you play your role as if it were real life or a story, right? I don't know many people with multiple characters in real life. In fact, I'm told they usually put those kinds of people in straitjackets...

Admins have the ability to alter a character, I'm sure.

Would roleplaying situations happen enough to warrant a seperate system or even enough to warrant "WE MIGHT DIE" as a valid excuse?

I know, but you're not going to get anything through to Zurkiba. He's chosen to dislike any idea I have without thinking about it.

I think about it like this... every player is going to be roleplaying whatever character they create. They will play the role of that character and immerse themselves into the world through normal gameplay, and most won't even be aware that they are roleplaying. Then when situations come up where they have to sort of get creative, the influential roleplaying environment will make it easy for them. That is what I'm trying to achieve. You can't just divide the hardcore RPers and the normal players and then say "okay non-RPers, if you'd like to RP, you have to come over to our side and we will either spit on you and kick you out, or we will treat you like you're ignorant and try to teach you if you're willing to learn". With the old system, there was no inbetween. You either "roleplayed" or you didn't.

I mean how easy is it to play the role of a guy heading off to a town to buy some clothing, who will then go off and do a job for some money, so that he can go to market and pick up some tools and things from other people there? That's a whole roleplaying scenario there and people will be doing that regardless. I know that it doesn't seem that exciting, but that's what the kingdoms will be for. They will provide players with a chance to immerse themselves into something even more, if they choose to do so.

All I'm trying to achieve with my server as far as roleplaying goes, is to make an environment that encourages roleplay and attempts to immerse the player into the world. That's all. I believe an npc king can do that more effectively than a real person because the npc king does not sway from his duty and isn't going to be like "well guys, my girlfriend just dumped me today so I don't really feel like doing anything". Talk about killing the experience.

The clothes might not be that expensive. I can't imagine it costing massive amounts of money for a new shirt or trousers etc.

You're going to have that in ANY game though. Even games that are total RP. Even if there are punishments for not roleplaying. There is no way around that. All I'm saying is that an environment that encourages roleplaying might at least help to prevent people from acting like that.
