Graphical RC on ubuntu

hey everyone, i been using ubuntu a while and i can't get the "graphic menu" on RC to work, it freezes and i have to force quit on it.
this forces me to use the "no-graphic menu" option, and it's killing me 3:

suggestions?

This might help, though it's not written specifically for Ubuntu.

Plus, the graphical RC is hideous. Why not just use the non-graphical one?

More streamlined and quicker to get to where you want to go? Not to mention you can skin it if you'd like.

If it's anything like the Windows problem(which happens exactly the same), this may be of help:

Well, when I'm working, I have generally 10+ RC windows stacked in my task bar, so I don't mind clicking twice. The graphical one wastes too much space with the huge image.

My graphical RC on Ubuntu works by default. All I did was download the packages and kept it at the path /home/felixlionheart/.graal/graal4/rc. The only problem is that you have to open the rc from the path with the images so using a shortcut is not possible.

Although I personally use the none graphical rc as I find it easier to use and it displays more text.

Such a small window wasting space with todays resolutions is kinda impossible, don't you think? It's a thing of preference I'd say. Some prefer programs with fancy looks.

Create a shortcut in the same folder as the RC(and leave it there!), then create a shortcut to the shortcut. At least, that's what I do.

Then no idea... in the thread I linked someone stated to change the starting folder in the shortcut properties to the RC folder. Can you do that?

What I did was add a shortcut to the rc folder under bookmarks. At first it's annoying having to open the rc folder to use the application but you get used to it.

Open a terminal, and run these commands:

NPC Code:
cd ~/.graal/graal4/rc/
mv rc rc_bin
nano rc

Then paste this:
NPC Code:
#!/bin/sh

cd ~/.graal/graal4/rc/
exec ~/.graal/graal4/rc/rc_bin

Ctrl+X, and follow the prompts at the bottom of the terminal

Then, when you're out of nano, back in the terminal, run this commands:
NPC Code:
chmod +x rc

And now when you run ./rc from any directory it should work with the images.

okey did that, the last thing with "chmod +x rc" didn't give anything back, like it just made a new row..
