When you make?

When you make a level, what do you do in the start, do you think of a style your gonna make or just start something up and then looks at it and edit's????

Spark910 has a spectacular aura about
Yes, I think. Else its pointless as you put somehing down and end up editing it about 100 times before you can fill the whole level with something you want.

same

I just put random tiles together till I see something that looks good

I usually have like 3 or 4 levels with nothing but fragments of tiles I put together, that I thought look good together.

But I like editing levels better than making new ones, just because I'm not as good at seeing the big picture when making levels
=x

The first thing I make are the base stuff like puddles, roads, mountains, trees, etc. Then I add the actual content (houses, npcs, stuff) and then I detail. I usually look at the level again and make changes. Since I'm lazy I end up doing things the crappy way.

I think about it first, otherwise I'd have to make each level 5 times. I typically think of the general areas I'm going to have rivers/cliffs and things in. Then I think of any buildings I'm going to have, and where I'll have space. Then I think of where I'm going to have a path too. The first thing I usually make is cliffs and water. If it's a flat level (OMG NO!!) then I make the path and buildings first. Then, I add in extras like tables, trees, cool tiling thingies, etc. Finally, I complete the level by tediously detailing it..I hate that part =x

Alot of the time I just have a vision and then I make the level based on what I saw... If I make a large set of levels on a map, like a castle or something, I usually sketch a layout n stuff...

If it is inside levels I sketch it on paper, and for outside levels I let my imagination take over.
