I got the first three boxes from the event island haunted house before that pumpkin crafting table was removed, i then started making the boxes at the tower of turmoil, and about a week or two later the boxes were altered to give really valuable items, i stopped working for pumpkins about the time i got myself a belt of raging dragon.
