Re-inventing the wheel is a good thing for developers trying to hone their skills. Here's why:
- Gives them a good chance to practice.
- They have a completed model so they know what they're working towards.
- They know what they're doing is possible because it's already been done.
- Usually it's easy to find support if you get stuck.
- Sometimes improvements can be made to "the wheel" that didn't exist prior to them "re-inventing" it.
