Still, mass messages can easily be filtered, if I'm not mistaken. It's a much better solution when you consider how much time is wasted by administrators who feel the best course of action is to get in someone's face over dropping the 'F' bomb once or twice. Let the system take care of it. It's stupid to spend 30 minutes to an hour just perusing log files to see what people have said about you or other people.

On Zodiac, I added a log which only logged when players said certain words (think hacking tools). If this would said, it would then log next 10 lines. To log everything is kinda....****house.

The only thing I could think of is logging all chat on the client. Then if the client gets abused by someone, the client can send the server a history between that person and themselves.

I guess that's useful, but is it worth the time to deal with individual players? If someone's going to use whatever hacking tool, they'll probably do it without much discussion. I wonder if an automated alert system could be put into place instead, though. Like a serverside UI notification for admins whenever stuff like that comes up. Just an idea.

Besides they might be talking about other people they know who have hacking tools.
