You're absolutely right. Nobody is obligated to thank them. It would be nice, though, to acknowledge that you appreciate them doing something nice like that, especially when they did not have to add any new features. It
doesn't matter if you like the feature or not. For example: I don't like how Graal5 replaces all previous Graal versions, but I do like that they released Graal5 and the many updates that came with it.
People always fall in to this friendly-unfriendly dichotomy. The customers want "user-friendly service", but they insult the owners while asking for it. It's extremely immature and shows very bad character.
