New tileset, LAT input requested.

I am working on tiles for my server, but the landscape system isn't traditional graal, so the tiles aren't compatible, but then I figured maybe they should be, so I started converting them into a a useable graal traditional tileset.

I am not an LAT, but from what I have noticed so far, the tileset seems to allow for alot more versatility, each isometric "tile" consists of 8 traditional graal tiles in a 4 x 2, and a very unique format that makes most of them interchangable so that they still look good.

I was wanting some LAT input on the screenshots, and if any LAT wants to give the tileset a whirl in the editor and tell me in depth their thoughts of how useful it would be, since I am not a LAT I can't tell.

If it's no good, I will trash the traditional format idea for now so I can get back to making the tiles for my server, rather than slowing myself down making it in two seperate formats. :|

Tell me whatcha think.

I think I clarified that the tileset was incomplete and a port from another format entirely, I am working on the joining tiles for this format, but the other format doesn't require them.

Note: Graal is so incompatibly retarded that you have to do 10 times the work just to utilize default systems, whereas designing and implementing new ones entirely takes a matter of minutes.

This is awsome raelyn! You could very well hold the future of most grall servers with those tiles! On a scale of 1 to 10 i give it a 26!

Keep up the good work sir!

Presumably your 'non-traditional' format involves showimg-ing the tiles? Bad idea, dude.

Thanks.

I've seen it, don't talk about it, it's naughty and it will get you banned.

What I am doing is not quite in the same style though, much different, actually. :P

It would look nice without the lines in between tiles. It still looks very nice though.

Unless it was a strategy server, were movement was from tile to tile, rather than free flowing, which would make the lines helpful for plotting route of travel.

The claims of one heavily biased manager and inexperienced scripter are enough for you?

I would assume people to not be liars until they gave me a reason to assume that they were.

So you ignore bias. Okay. That still doesn't address his inexperience.

I like the idea, but is it practical in any sense? No matter how you script it? I really don't know much about Gscript at all, let alone it's limitations.

Why don't you just use a custom tileset?
I played with the isometric perspective a while ago on Significance, and then also again offline with a new body and movement script.

I can't find the Significance screenshot Angel posted on here a while ago. But I took a screenshot of my offline one.
If you want me to zip it up including all graphics, feel free to ask. I don't think I'll be using this any more, although I put a hell of alot of time into the sprites.

I thought about making isometric tiles when Graal first allowed multiple tilesets, but I wasn't sure how it would handle tiles that would draw over players (using npc's for that are too laggy), so I made my own isometric engine in C++. Based off Mario RPG. You can make your own levels in notepad (until I make a level editor) and it will compile them in layers. Unfortunately, I have trouble concentrating when it comes to object collision and so I have shelved the project for now.

;o just have two variables, they both the detect the players new coordinants.
Have a function that checks if the new dx/dy are allowed
Like, have them check the Z (if there is too much of a gap, then the object is too tall to step up) Also make it check to see if there just isnt a wall or an npc there XD.

Its pretty basic since your dealing with an isometric system.
