Exclamation Another New Level!

I was just bored so I made a level. It may look similar to the beach house one I made (Or atleast it does to me) but I had no intention of doing this. I'm not sure if I put in too much weed detail or not but I think it looks good.

As I said in the other thread...

Quote:
The level seems a little bit empty, you should try adding some walking paths. Give both the shallow and deep water some detailing. I think you could improve the foresting below the cliff, rather than having 3 trees you could join about 6-7, it'd be a cheap way to make the level look less plain and also a nice touch in my eyes.
Some of it doesn't apply but most of it does. The level overall looks empty, it needs some kind of "direction". I'd add a road leading towards the house or something. The detail is very plain and boring to look at. Try grouping your detail and using things like bushes, rocks, and mushrooms in special areas (I typically do this near trees).

On the plus side, I don't see any major tile errors.

It looks like you're just randomly filling the level with tiles you find.

To expand on what Crono said, it really looks like everything in the grass was generated with a tool rather than placed with the benefit of the level in mind. I'm not saying you used a tool, but that the outcome is no different. You should treat your detailing as you do the rest of the level -- to make it as natural and seamless as possible, because it's not really just filler.

A few things to make it look less empty:
  • Derail the sand lining around the cliffs, expand the sand north.
  • Add a stone or sand path road (or both mixed together?!) going across the bottom half of the level.
  • Add more trees in the bottom half of the level, try joining them up more often.

I'd just like to say that detailing was just a experiement like Xelt's detailing on isle of bane, it was a failure.

I don't know where that came from, but you're certainly in no position to insult other people's levels, especially when they're trying to help you.

I think he means his own take at your style was a failure, not your style.

I'm talking how you were experimenting with that awful style of detailing where you would put these gigantic spaces between them. I really didn't mean to give off any offense but sorry.
