Got really bored >.>
(It's an unregistered version of MilkShape so I can't save it [pity], so I took 3 screenies)

Did it in like 30 minutes :o

Edit:
By the way if anyone has a MilkShape 3D 1.8.2 key please PM/IM me it (ones that have already been used will still work: the program is not something online to check)

Yeah, but I also doubt my parents would get me it, knowing them...
The only reason they pay for Graal is because it keeps me occupied when I'm bored.

Try Blender. It's actually pretty good for a free 3d imager.

But I'll give it a try I guess.

Edit:
It's so confusing and I'm not in the mood to read 10,000 tutorials on just the damn interface...

yea I tried blender myself once and gave up instantly xD I think I managed to create a ball but that was it. Would probably be easier to learn the controls on a extremely advanced and big airplane then blender I like milkshape coz its so simple and you get into it in no time.

Haha, I know what you mean about Blender.

I'd love to do some 3D work but I don't know where to start and which would be good for my own preferences. I wouldn't like to model for a game or anything. Maybe just make some nice pictures or something, which I can post-process through Photoshop, etc.

You know ppl from Adobe and Discreet(creators of 3d studio max) have actually said that they don't really care if ppl have their products cracked, because the products are quite expencive, and if you have tought yourself how to use it, then later when you want to start selling stuff, you will ofcourse buy the programs you know.

I find that hard to believe. If they knew their products were too expensive and that it was okay for people to have cracked versions, they would just lower the price.

As for the 'why pay for it when you can get it for free' bit... well that's pretty easy to say when you're doing the stealing from being a computer, where most of it will never be able to be found. If it ever is the most they do is disable the software, you'll never face charges. I'm sure most wouldn't have the guts to walk into a store and stuff some things into their jacket and walk out with it.

I don't want to get into this whole debate as I don't really care, but why bring it up on the forums? Why encourage/discourage other people from doing it? If you like doing it, or don't... fine, do or don't! Is there really a reason to try to push it onto others? Not to mention the topic itself is disallowed on the forums so if you keep this up they'll most likely leave a ****load of deleted, spammy posts in the thread.

Yeah but who cares. If they really wanted you to buy the program they'd hook it up online to make sure the key isn't used Plus I think yesterday when I was first starting that sword I asked Stefan to buy me one and he said "Got any examples?" xD I think so he knew it wasn't for a 12 year old kid to say "YAY I GOT A KEY!" then not use it.

Milkshape, from what I've seen/used, is probably the easiest 3D developing stuff there is (though maybe more complex when you go into real character/landscape detail). Get it and google some tutorials for it.

Free isn't always best, and sometimes it can be more complex than one you buy COUGH BLENDER COUGH!

I already asked for a key, dude, for Milkshape, which is probably less money than 3D Studio Max... What makes you think I can get THAT instead xD

Thats because I don't see taking a software off the net is the same as taking it from the store, think about the expenses of actually burning the disk and creating the box for the software, plus your ruining for the owner of the shop. And what I said is true.
They are quite pro ppl making these programs, and they know that the average interested student does not have 4500£ laying around.
Btw, these companies sell mostly to big companies and schools.

Btw, good start Switch.

The cost, after creating software, of selling & distributing is virtually nothing.

Virtually nothing?

I work in printing, it's a much bigger process than you'd think. We print for some of the biggest companies in the business, Adobe, Apple, and Microsoft. They shell out millions.

You have to factor everything in. Paper, file preparation, digital editing, proofing, plating, printing, cutting, folding, stitching, and distribution to facilities. It all costs that corporation big money. You think that all just magically happens? It takes a ton of employees for the whole process.

I believe he means for the companies because they make enough to pay it off with "virtually nothing".

It depends on the company, but it's still a ton of money, and I don't want him to think it's relatively cheap to print high quality imagery.

I'm sure the money they pay the people who work on that stuff goes up into the millions too. So really, that's a bad argument.

I'm simply saying that all costs of packaging, etc are easily covered by the cost, with a ton of profit for them, unlike hardware manufacturing where you pay for parts, etc. Its surely much simpler and cheaper making boxes etc then it is making a computer.

So, like I said, once you get over the large cost of developing it, and then the relatively miniscule cost of the packaging, it's almost all profit.

trifle has a spectacular aura about
Developing the software ofcourse is more work and cost more then getting it out there in the shelf. What I'm saying is that if you get it online, you are just making a copy of the program, you are not taking a program from them.
And later when you got the money and you know how to work with a program, ofcourse you will buy the one you can and know.

Happens with movies aswell:
Quote:
Eric Wilkinson, the producer of the independent film “The Man from Earth”, wrote an email to RLSlog in which he thanks them for the free promotion they gave him. “In the future, I will not complain about file sharing” he wrote, “when I make my next picture, I just may upload the movie on the net myself!”
