Project pics2.png

Yes, pics2. This isn't sponsored by Stefan or anything like that... hell, he doesn't even know! It's a personal project I've taken on. I need everyone's help.
We all know there are a lot of tiles missing in pics1. Many times you'll be making a level... and be saddened to see there's some awkward combination of tiles that cause tile errors! Now you can't do that cool looking cliff like you wanted. Well, I want everyone who has had that problem to help out. I don't make levels much so I don't come across these errors too much.
What I want you to do, is if you come across a layout of tiles that needs a new tile to be made(like I have added turns in the house roofs), please take a picture of the problem and circle it, then post it here! I will do my best to fix the tile and add it into the tileset. Please make the screenshot as small as possible, I have dialup and I don't want to keep downloading huge screenshots--crop where needed, please.
Now, don't be sad, this isn't just for tile fixes! I am going through Zelda 3 tiles and adding everything that's missing! That means you'll be able to make whole new areas with this tileset! But don't worry about that part, it's a surprise.
... oh, and if you already have graphics that would fix common tile errors, please post them if you want me to add them, it would save a lot of time!

PS. I should also note, along with adding many tiles, I am also removing a lot. I have removed all lava tiles(except the lava itself), and the ugly gray dungeon tiles.

Thanks for the help!

Attached are some tiles I made to flawlessly connect bigger areas of deeper water around those water cliffs. Work pretty well. You can use them if you want.

Edit: I would also like to help with other things if you don't mind, I'm doing some graphics myself. If you feel like it, pm me with what you need, and I'm giving it a try.

Not everyone wants to make a whole new tileset for their server. Do you know how time consuming that is? Especially when their server is going to be classic-style anyways.

There isn't enough good pics1 levelers that aren't busy nowadays anymore though. Even if you don't have the time for a new tileset, in the end making levels with the new tileset might be the same amount that it would take to really find "good" levelers for pics1.

Why not make pics2 in a setting of a new tileset?
Much better organised and...handy!

I would use the new layout... but then it'd just be counterproductive(you wouldn't be able to just apply the new tileset to levels made for pics1). But, if demand is high, I'll go ahead and make two tilesets in both layouts.

Here's a start. The tiles attached only have a right direction and the only suitable replacements are the ones on the left, which aren't very suitable at all. Easyyy fix, but it's missed off the pics1 tileset

Another common issue that sprung to mind which happens on most servers is a lack of solid tiles for the attached.

Everytime Iam starting up something classic I have the problem to organize some tiles to be more creative with existing tiles...

I think this shouldve been done a long time earlier, as the tiles had no updates since 2001?

I fixed these cliff and technique ally there was nothing wrong with them, but these transfers look alot better than the other straight ones.

If you guys don't like this one I am fine with that, it has just always bothered me how rough these were.

Oh yeah btw I left them with the surrounding tiles just incase, wasn't sure if we needed to do that or not.

Here's what I've made so far, kiddies.
Play with it as you like, and post any errors you find! I'm not done with it yet, though!

A few key notes:
  • Many tiles were removed, I stated this in the first post.
  • I have added 'mountain' tiles, as seen in Zelda 3 on Death Mountain. Right now the background of the clouds is a teal color, I'll replace that when I know what I'm going to do with it.
  • I have also added 'forest' tiles, these are tall, bush-like tiles that go around tree's and such. Also added leaves.
  • House brick tiles are now actually tileable.

A house brick wall that makes sense when tiled.

Nice job, Dusty, looking good so far. I'll go scout for some things that need improvement as well

**Edit: I couldn't find the other inside corners for that on the original pics1, and it used to piss me off, so theres some.

Nice work and definitely a huge job to tackle but removing those ugly gray dungeon tiles is a mistake. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all. They at least made sense and were workable

I don't think I have ever seen them used anywhere's. In my eyes they were just too plain and boring. Either way, people make take the contents of this and rework it as they like.

Those are cloud tiles, and since they'll be 'off-limits' in terms of being able to ever touch them(they're always divided from the walking area by cliffs), I don't think it'll be that much of a problem. But thanks for the heads up, I have come across a few tiles which are walk-able, though not intended to be.
I'll be adding posted changes later when I start working on it, though I'm curious, Crow, as to what your brick thing fixes? I didn't know there was a tile error with those.

Clouds? I didnt even notice. Hell, clouds are awesome. The stone thing changes the color of 4 small areas from the stone color to white, so it doesnt produce errors when tiling now. Try with and without.

Edit: Oh, yea, that forestish stuff where the lava tiles where, the very bottom left tile of the small tree is actually where a piece of fence was, might be shoot-through. But I doubt it matters.

Hmm, there's a problem converting it to a type 1 tileset... it just doesn't support the needed tiles of a pics1. In that I mean that there's no tile support for bushes getting cut, vases to be picked up, rocks being picked up... and the flowers are bugged(laying more than one will only cause the first flower to animate). If you still want me to go through with it I will, but most of the pics1 tile support will have to be scripted.
