Small Updates!

Unfortunately I cannot speak of many updates, but I'd like to tell that we are getting things started again

I've hired the following people:
- Kramer (levels, graphics, sound)
- Kamaeru (levels)
- DustyPorViva (graphics)
- Darklux (levels, mostly insides)
(correct me if I'm wrong with the functions haha)

Currently Dusty is busy making some funky Samurai objects/tiles for the Samurai "town" (part) on the server. Below you can see 2 nice objects he's made;

- A sign

- A well

Well anyhow, I'd like to tell that we are still open for more new staff

So if you'd like to help us, contact me as soon as possible please (I'd prefer by msn or forum pm)!

Well has potential, but I'm not really impressed by either. I don't see the WOW factor I was expecting from everything.

Heh, put the server next to other servers and you'll see a difference.

But I'm not sure if it fits with the standard of things shown so far of 2001. Perhaps it would look better (or I could see it better) if it was shown in use in a level. The well is the better of the two, but I really dislike the sign or am failing to imagine it correctly.

Ive worked on 2001 and I have to strongly disagree, its fits perfectly.

You crazy? have you seen their cliffs XD. I tried to recliff some simple stuff and I got a headache, though I managed to do quite a bit I think.

I've also done quite a big part now, but we can always use some help on levels... and you know how many cliffs we have haha...

Oh btw, here's a little snapshot of how I am in the middle of renewing Bomb

As soon as we are done with Bomboria, we'll release a part I guess

Gotta fit the style, or 'least that's what I was going for. I don't think they deserve their own thread, but I guess the server could use some updates threads.
I personally think if they're thrown in with the rest of the tiles they'll blend right in, and that's all that really matters.

Actually, after I did my research for the tiles I did, I found out that it is a shrine, not a sign. As for showing it in a level, that's really up to Contiga.

Because it's just one color for the shadow as of now. It's hard to add detail because the placement of the NPC would offset the tiling, so it's just a placeholder for now. It'll change before it's actually put up though.

EDIT: I guess I should also post the hairs I made.

Walls seem too small in comparison to the roof.

And make some female bodies and hair styles. MAYBE A FEMALE HEAD OR TWO.

Well, the wall has more tiles to make it taller if wanted.
Also, I wanted to do some girl hairs, but I wasn't sure if they used the same head as the boys, and thus didn't have a template. I'll find out and see what I can do though.

I have twice offered my help graphic wise. I would love to work for G2k1. But I lack the account means. But I'd be willing to do things for contiga. Yet he turned me down twice.

Because your still young and your your still learning when it comes to graphics. Im sure if you keep workin at things people wont turn you down the future.

Not really an update thread, just a display of Dusty's graphics. Okay here we go.

I agree with what maxiumus_asinus stated in terms of the shadows losing the grass detail so instead of explaining (I really don't have time) I've edited the images, converted them to PNG files with transparency on the shadows. I've also converted them to fit tile restraints, it'll look much better in the levels.

However, I'm not really a fan of how square the well and sign is, especially the sign. The shadows are rather square too.

The new town signs, well, I was a fan of the old, but most of the wood patterns have been changed anyway. For the sake of consistency they're fine, but the font is extremely bland I hope you're changing that. Again, the shadows look a little odd.

Overall, nice additions.

I'd say you do that by making transparent spots all over the shadow in a grid
(like this...X is a full and O is a transparent pixel)

I used that "technique" for most of my server graphics, but when I discovered the semi transparent PNG technique.. oh boy, I never went back!

I agree, it makes me want to pull my eyes out to relieve them for the pain I just put them through in looking at such a method.
