Which is better?

Okay, so I've came up with 2 ideas for servers: Dark Rival, and Legend.
Which one did you like more?
(DR=Classic styled quests, with RPG stats and gameplay, Legend=Top down post modern server).
Do a search for more details. If you need them that is.

I've gotten so PMs asking me why I did it, etc.
To tell you the truth, I like both servers, but DR will always be my home.

Is there a "none of the above" option? Because seriously.....has there been anything good that a average person who doesn't play graal would like on any server you've tried to create? I wish you would stop trying to make a server like the rest of the *****s and just help someone else work on 1 project. Before this damn game dies from everyone working on there 1 own crappy project.

Back to what I wanted DR to be from the beginning: A classic server with a lot of weapon variety, and good looks.

Economics is easy
As for community, yeah. Through things like the computer, spar, central towns, and quests that require at least 2 people to do, I plan to have a good community feel here.

dont re-use any levels start from scratch along with rescripting everything that matters. when you mix and match projects you get trash.

Well, since the rpg version of DR had only just started, and our quests were already pretty classic, I'd say we can use the same overworld (since we only just started it, and it's not near finished).
Inside levels as well.
In fact, when I get my RC, it's just going to remove all the rpg scripts, brining it back to normal. I don't think I'm even going to put in the 2 classes DR started with. I find it limits gameplay a little. I'm going to let the player decide how they will play.

I would prefer classic style weapons.

Excaliber, I'm glad you're still doing your project Dark Rival after all this time. I don't think anyone else has had the motivation and drive to work on their server, no matter what people have said, and still have a positive attitude about it - You're certainly something different.

I personally think you should stick with Dark Rival, because any mention of the name reminds me of you, and I bet it's the same for everyone else. Dark Rival is your creation, and I hope you stick with it instead of doubting the project and leading off to other things.

To be quite honest, you should bring back neither. They both were not so great at all. Legend was just terrible, and your top down post was a terrible unorignal idea. Also with the fact that you wanted guns...There was Graal X and Era for that. Dark rival had a icky tileset with some icky levels. Though it is harsh criticism im giving, it is truly what i have thought.

I also thought the scripts you made on Dark rival were very irrelevant to it's theme. A computer? I mean make it sound medieval and change its whole look to compare to something your theme was based on.

Your tileset wasn't bad but it wouldn't be something i would imagine to play on. It was just too green. You also made Dark rival seem unprofessional with the hiring of non-development staff.

You can bring back Dark rival, but i suggest fresh with your levels and tileset gone on a new gmap. And have your story theme revised a bit.

And i could bet the mods will delete this saying i am bashing his playerworld when i am giving my opinion. He asked for it by creating this thread.

UnholyNation does not have a theme. It's just a classic server. Excaliburs' is medieval(sorry if i spelled that wrong:P).

The computer was to be a global project, as it is now.
Look at UN
Cars and swords?
At least this was the only thing that went out of bounds, and it was simply to connect the players, and provide a very useful tool.
As for the storyline; it may get a small make over, but no huge changes.

Un isnt a great server either. It's the high playercount and the community that keeps it still alive. But yeah, you should bring back DR if you are going to revise it alot and make it a more relaxing place to be.

Honestly, Events have nothing to do with a server.
Imagine that the Computer is just an event. One that allows players to connect and play games anywhere on graal (eventually-right now, it's just for DR, but I plan to add IRC functions, multiplayer games, etc).

I think you should start from scratch. Being honest your levels weren't very good but if you decided to assemble a team and start from the beginning again (with ideas and more importantly experience from before, definitely!) you could end up with something great.

Your dedication is amazing and I'm pretty sure with some good help you can get something great going, but the originals are lacking in a few areas.

So. The game plan:
Restart...everything
I'm going for an epic story line. Not very linear, lots of side quests, tons of things to do, even after you 'beat' the game.
As opposed to the 3 part server idea of old, I'm going with something much different.
You will play as yourself, you are the main character now.
It will be a huge, epic quest.
And the 'game' doesn't end when you 'beat' it.
After the end of the game you will have to become stronger, and new challenges will come out. The world will be constantly updating.
And they won't just be side quests. There will be huge conflicts you'll have to solve.

Now, I need some server names.
A few ideas:
Dark Rival
Legend
Guardian

Or you could make your own suggestions
I know, it's hard if you haven't heard the entire story line.
I'm partial to 'Guardian'.
