ProjectR Stopped

For a long time myself and James have posted on these forums hoping to find help, and for a long time we got no volunteers. So I continued to persue help via AIM, no friends would help either.

We all know a server can't be done by two people, at least, not the server James and I were trying to make. I thought that, with the amount of things we had designed for the game, if we could get enough man-power we'd be able to somehow change graal, but despite our best efforts and unwavered loyalty to the server, we've decided to stop the Project.

We have no help. We have, in my opinion, the best (written-designed) server that there could be, but there was never help.

So yeah, ProjectR is done, sorry.

Don't just quit like that. I made most of DR's overworld by hand, and for the most part, in the beggining, I did all the work on my own. I'm still the best scripter working for DR, and the only one who knows GS2. I work very hard because I know someday. DR will be the server I want.
However, I do think the PWA shouldn't just inspect playerworlds. It should be larger, allowing for more members, to actually help with playerworlds.

I would say focus on one project and you will have better luck.

Or playerworlds could just help themselves.

If they can't make the content, they won't be able to maintain in.

I will try to address everything in this thread, itll probably be one of the really good last chances we get to have with this.

I know for a fact that is aimed at Sephiroth, and thats fine, but my whole sole purpose was to try to finish ProjectR origonally. I put what seems like a lifetime of work into scripting the systems, and I could go on forever about all the work we tried to do but wasnt able to finish, how I could have persued NAT at other server, etc, but it would just be a long boring story.

To excaliber:
I am not sure of your age, and really age dosent matter when you get to a point that you realise buisness is buisness, and in buisness you should get a return off of what you do. Making a graal server gives no real return anymore, and probably never will again. Owning a server is not special because anyone can do it. There are also more problems with owning a server then never getting your hands dirty with that.

Damix:
That is not entirely true, why do you think that the head of a playerworld is called a Manager? Managing content and activity is FAR easier then creating an entire world with two-people. Just because you can not make an entire world of content, does not mean you can not manage it.

I disagree, mentioning it to friends might get them to try it out, buying one costs money, and if it becomes popular enough, people may play it for fun or the community. New playerworlds may end up being clasic servers some day, and thus adding more variety to graal. It makes sure that Graal has a large target market.

That seems to be the trend of graal these days. Like all the servers youve put to waste.

(Despite whatever James says ), I'm sure we'd need help scripting smaller things.
I can't handle such a large Overworld myself, leveling-wise, and i'm not good at Insides, so I'd need at least 1 or 2 people to do insides and 1 person to help me outsides, (bare minimum).

Graphicswise we're at a complete loss, the one time we had someone offer help he logged on, found out what we were doing, and then left after saying "Oh this is an underdeveloped Zenkou." (You know who you are.)

We also needed Ganis, I was trying to get into Ganis for the battle system but it never really got off the ground, I used to be pretty good but now I'm not that great at them.

All around we needed a lot of help, James and I only covered the complete basics.

Fair enough, however.
Buying one costs money, your friends try it out as a trial account, and they like it, so they upgrade to get a classic account and save games, Graal Online gets the return, not you. They got an upgrade, not you. Bottom line is the bottom dollar, and GO Just improved theirs thanks to you.

I absolutely disagree, you maybe have not been around long enough to know how things work. Its not how good you are its who you know. (No matter what anyone else might try to step in and say).

For example: Alexander held babylon simply because of who he was, not because he was good at it.

Fogles: Thank you for the offer, but Ganis are one of the lowest priority things we needed. We never managed to get much more then the Battle system complete, which I was very happy about myself. Lots of other little things too, probably enough to be much of a hit, not enough to satisfy competetion though.

Malinko: More or less all help was needed, but everyone we brought, found the project to be a bit too complicated. Why work to create something when you can just go somewhere where it is already created and work there, without doing real work. Right?

Finally..

Tom: Clear the air here, you said you would help, and moments later you said.
"No, on second thought I think I am going to quit developing for graal"

Which came a little while after I refused to go by some silly conditions to stuff my human pride and suck up to other people so they will do scripting for me. Which happened to also be the lowest form of help we were searching for.

Thanks MD I appriciate the comments, but all we had to go from the start was an idea and a server infront of us who tried the same idea. Its not that it cant be done, its that it will take far too many years at this rate, and as I explained, a few years of paying for a server with no return, is an awful hard endevour to enter into.
