Mythic Legends

Not too long ago, there was a server known as "Mythic Legends" and went with a pirate theme. Some of you might´ve been there, but I doubt most of you ever even heard of it.

The server died due to lack of money.

Now, the server is beeing remade and worked on under the name "Coronia". It will be renamed to its former name as soon as possible.

The theme this time is medieval / RP with alot of inspiration from Forgotten Realms games (such as Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights) and as userfriendly as World of Warcraft.

In this thread, I will show some of its progress so that I can get some comments / ideas.

First off; a snapshot of the Inventory ( not fully completed design wise!) and the Online Item Editor AND a snapshot with a Fort thats under construction.

The general ideas is cool, and the tiles are pretty sweet. But i know a good few ways to improve them

Keep up the good work, and i hope to see this in the future.

That fort is hot, but the flat roofs look a little odd. And.. is the portcullis supposed to be upside down? o_O

Also, it looks pretty new and unweathered - but perhaps that's the way it's supposed to be?

I think the look of it will be changed when the tiles are done, I dont know actually - you´d have to ask Jer about that.. Im the brain, he´s the look.

The character graphics look something striking similar to what Tony Rivers would have done, either you are a) TonyRivers, b) TonyRivers is working for you c) TonyRivers is locked in your basement and you often drop him meat for graphics or d) Coincedence.

C is usually always the answer, unhand tony ;(

On a serious note now, looks good, i dont do graphics myself so I cant judge very fairly, but it looks decent..

The graphic was made from scratch by me, only used the colors on a character Jer drew for ML 6 months ago (got stolen so we never used it).

There are two Coronia.

Coronia: Galaxies
Coronia

Coronia was originally Jers (and a friend of his) server, but they didnt use it so Magus got to use it since he didnt have a server. Eventually he bought his own server, and named it Coronia: Galaxies.

We are still waiting for a name change to Mythic Legends.

Ok, the tileset have been worked on - we are making ALL tiles from scratch. Theres an OSL (Online Start Local) uploaded, with a room containing the tiles and the new player sprites that are beeing worked on.

Feel free to drop in and check it out!

If that guy in the different body than Graal is default, look in the top right and theres a graal head. You should fix that. Other than that, cool.

Top LEFT. And thats the GUI, displays your own head. Currently, players use default bodies while our walking sprites are beeing worked on.

Your custom bodies are hideous (yea, finally, and people thought Icarus' bodies were bad...), but everything else looks great.

They might not be the best, but hey - most people dislike GKs bodies but yet their player count is rather high.

And the bodies will look ALOT better with armors, swords etc equipped. Players are not supposed to run around naked.

The sword is in an awkward position.

The bodies I'm not crazy about, seems like it would be rediculously hard to gani because of all the sprites needed, but I like the armor.

Hard to gani? Not at all, the ganis are made by first adding head, body, arms, legs, hair and then just to *paste* the equippment on it. And I mean, the equipment is set with gani params.

It wont be in that position, I just put it there in this graphic to display the sword.

(Its supposed to be a Two-Handed Sword if you are interested)

Character Creation Menu Added!

It basically lets you choose some attributes (currently gender and race). When you choose a race, a description of the race is loaded from an external file and shown in the menu. When all attributes have been selected the "Create character" button appears.

More races and possible classes will be added later.

Your server might just be good, minus the bodies because Im sure theyll move just as lame and as low as GK bodies do from the look of the sprites. Maybe everyone should stop trying to make them mini exact human bodies and just make them bodies that move in various ways (running,jumping) and look nice. Unless you can add to those character sprites for they can run and jump etc.

And Ive completed the walking on the 'down' direction, currently working on the rest of them. And im pretty sure adding specific run/jump sprites wont be any trouble.

ADD: You can now select 1 of 3 BASE classes; Warrior, Mage and Ranger.
Since work has been going forward alot this week, expect more updates.

EDIT: Added printscreen.

NOTE: Only human is selectable so far.
