Let's Improve Kingdoms?!

So here's a thread I created back in 2004, long time ago, I know!

Please read all the posts within the thread and post in this thread what would be awesome to see on Kingdoms! If additional comments, concerns, and/or suggestions need to be posted, do so now!

I'm sure the Kingdoms staff will look at this thread and take all the posts within consideration!

Edit: As a little note, it would be awesome to give details to all the ideas! Just so it's easier and makes all of the Kingdoms players happy!

- Kingdom mode.
- Get rid of useless pets like Yoda and put in Bomy pets we can ride on water.
- Some kind of glitching substitute like Brad's stat-swap idea.

Perhaps one where you can have an item equipped, but change the gfx using a setshield command and still retain the stats. Just an idea.

But only for items that you own and have in your inventory, or all we're doing is just making glitching easier.

Or we can just not enable glitching so you can't try and scam someone.
If you like the look of it, get the item, quit being a cheapo.

Instead of worry about your preferances, we should fix a whole bunch of the small things that dont really work correctly.

First of all we all know the spell system is messed up right now.

The boats keep glitching and warping you onto the side of the boat, and then you cant turn it. This doesn't help pirates out in battle any.

The food points go just a little too fast for regenerating mana, oh and thanks for letting me regenerate magic even faster with that.

The pets really need to be revised. Yoda pet, uhm right... A squirell I can somewhat see for random purposes, and monkies. But have you taken a horse around lately and gone to a different island?? the Horse goes swimming ontop of the dock when your riding it. The same goes for a boat.

Kingdom items would be great idea. This would give us a purpose to be in a kingdom to specialize our character.

Different kingdom item stats, like Dustari and its mages. Forest with its rangers and elven folk. CP with.. uhm.. well its CP.. I dont know really.. and Zormite..

I haven't seen many events lately, have you? Wheres your cookie at?

Speaking of cookies, why cant we make a few new bakery items like cookies. And how about graphics for chocolate? Thinking of cookies, how about milk? Or the ability to make grapejuice and then wine. I dont see why not, we have beer after all.

Maybe some redesigned island shapes to break up the monotony?

You know all these maps, why not get a supper rare map for even harder enemies. Like a brutal with magic too! (magic that actually works)

Fix the shield gani please, tired of seeing the shield under my cloak when it started out over it in the first place. This goes the same for the horse ganis with cloaks.

Seeing the NPC server crashed, can you get some way to make it so it will stop crashing??

I don't see what would be wrong with having 2 items in your inventory, and you like the look of one but the stats of the other, then they can be switched.

Well technically wearing armour over another armour sholdnt be too bad, as long as one of them is a chainmail like armour and the other platemail.. technically speaking you can mix them some...

But if its glitching your talking about, or false images. That is used for scamming people and uhm, yea. Bad....

I am talking about what is considered as glitching... however I don't want it to be glitching.

Instead it would be a game function where 2 items must be in your inventory to use it. Ex. I have a FHoM, like it's stats, but want it look like a Phoenix Helm (both of which I own and are in my inventory).

I understand it defeats some of the purpose of stats and such, but as it stands right now there are clear cut things to wear and not wear and to me the whole server looked rather boring and monotonous today (FHoM's, PMoP's, Ice Shield's, and HSoD's galore.)

Either that or come up with some new items where players have some options.

That's the key... and it happens to be the most logical and cheapest... thus the best items for most players (FHoM, PMoP, etc.).

If something like this happend you'd definately see people wearing stuff like a Helmet of Xebinon (dark grey helmet), or even a Round Shield, or a Samurai Shield. Otherwise, these are never used beyond first starting out.

Purchasable (from CyberJ, for real money, USD) cash items which you wear on top of your normal equipment. These items would be undroppable, untradable, etc.

Some games do that, they sell items for looks, for about 90 days you get to use them.

Yeah, if that happens, Graal would be lost forever. Seriously i would leave the game immedately. Its just not right to make money from a few pixels..

Ok, stop right there and THINK for a second.....you play graal kingdoms....and how you ask?.......By paying .......money for a few pixles that you can move around and do things with?

Graal makes money from you because you want to use some "pixles" of theirs, so you fork it over and when someone comes up with an idea for change (i had the same idea too rick don't worry) that involves real money you seem to get worried all of a sudden, that didn't seem to affect folks paying for such high end gear like RoW and warhammers though now did it? (it's still going on too, i know it as soon as someone says they want to sell an item over aim or something, that's USDing man)

Actually, I think that limiting to being used only be the person who bought it is a bad idea. This sets an unfair advantage for players with money.

For example, I'm a filthy student - so I can't afford very much. Now if I wanted one of these super cool items, and didn't have the money... I might have the approximate value of the item in gear, or diamonds.

This is what I was trying to get at. Why should the kid with his daddy's credit card and a 2,000 dollar limit get super leet gear that no one else can have? It just sort of defeats the purpose of the game..."I don't have to play for 1,000 hours to build up some really nice gear and a good diamond bank account, I just have to shell out an extra 25 bucks and I'll be the coolest kid on the block!"

We're not all kids with daddy's credit card though. If you can't afford something that you want, what do you do? You work for it.

But you can't work for it? I think someone suggested they be non-tradeable and non-dropable. Meaning you can only get them if you shell out the cash. Alot of players, whether they have money or not, are below 18 and can't spend money at all online without parental approval. Somehow I doubt most parents won't look so kindly when their child says "Mom, can I spend 25 bucks on this sweet new shield, it has AC + 4!!"

Also, if you look back at the rest of my post, "working for it" is the whole point of graal, so why should a priviledged few be allowed to have power and fortune appear in their hands? How is that really different from USDing, which is so looked down upon?

Really now? That doesn't explain the continued existence of upgraded accounts playing on Graal Kingdoms.

I suggested this for only visual items, eg: you wear it on top of existing equipment, it would have no stats at all.

I don't look down upon "USDing" though. While I have yet to "USD" for Graal Kingdoms, I don't have a problem with it.

I don't think real money should be involved in getting looks (Although, I would probably buy some if they did come out with it :P) But perhaps items that are craftable in a certain place. For the items that look really decent, you could make them require harder-to-get items. You could also make these items non-droppable, non-tradeable so that players actually have to work to make them.

I've read half this thread so far, but I'll read the rest later.

As of now, since I have the thought in mind, I think graphics for items is major too. Wasn't that one person making shields and swords on the graphics forums? He should contact someone and get involved with Kingdoms! Yes, yes that is a hint to whoever it was!
