It works on Era for two reasons.
1) You're forced to be in one of the gangs. You can not create your own guild.
2) Era has a "large" player base.
If someone was to create a new server with guild based content, it would most likely be a total waste, as there would be too few players to make a good use of it.
I also agree that with all the player worlds out there, and the ability to make your own, developers are far too spread out. 1/20 worlds will make it to hosted, most likely, and out of those, maybe 1/8 makes it classic ever. So what we basically have is a large amount of wasted time and content.
I honestly have no idea if Stefan wants this game to remain, or if he is just riding it out until its end.
The community is dying. What's being done about it? Well, trials are being "limited" to make it smaller.
Global staff seems at best disinterested in their jobs. While Malinko is probably using his position to draw attention to his own criteria, at least he is also in some effect doing his job, or so I think.
This is no longer the year 2000. Graal is not one of a few MMOs out there, it is one of many.
The player base no longer supports mass development, tons of new player worlds, or anything of the such. Even if you complete a great world, you'd be lucky to draw 30-40 players at peak time.
The ONLY way anything will happen on this game is if fully functional free accounts were enabled again. This will never occur.
That's why there are 100 worlds and no new ones on the tabs. No one to develop them, no one to play them.
