Era : Gameplay Suggestions + Complaints

Starting a new thread - the Era? thread is too big to stick this in.

While many things have changed in Era's gameplay already, that I am not revealing right now, I would like to see any replies discussing what you think could be improved to it.

Here is a (brief) list of things that are final and will not be changed:

Blood and wounds: Staying.
10/50 HP: Staying at 50 HP, however, there are some changes to this system that I am not revealing right now.
Weight: Item weight no longer slows down your character, weight will exist to limit the amount of items you can carry.
Lockers: No longer going to exist, working on a better form of item storage, which will be free.

Jumping over fences, climbing stuff, giving buddies a boost so they can sneak through say vents in buildings. :o

The use of other players to accomplish things sounds like a good idea. Have perhaps car classes so you can take them and cap some foo's with some drive-by action. Omgaw.

Having help climbing over fences and low walls so that you don't need to break down doors sounds like a pretty good idea too.

The only thing is it will take a little work with onwall and offwall detection.

And here's a stab at something interesting. I know the ideas a little bit out there, but:

"First Person" shooting. Not quite what it sounds like. It's nothing that will be impossible with a 2d system.

We can have you press a button to go into "First Person" shooting and this will enable aiming with your mouse. The only downside to this is you have to stand in place and half your screen will be black (The side that you're not looking. Sorta like a narrowed vision effect). An arrow could be pointing in the direction of your shot. Take a look at my shizzy sketch:

Pretty sure you have this already but -

music.

I can see the following music in Era (not exactly my favorite genres but fits Era): Rap, Techno, (punk?).

Some good old fashion Era Pking with a little action would be nice.

You could 'blow up' a building with tiles. Just have it randomly change the tiles in the area of the building all mixed up.

Oh, and an old idea I came up with, the ability to dive and roll and shoot at the same time, Max Payne style.

Yea, but... If you just have random tiles fly everywhere then you need to be specific on what is behind that wall and even for that matter making it only blow up walls.

I originally created a roll gani for Trinity (WAAAY back in the day). Too bad we didn't have the scripters to script it. Otherwise it was pretty good.

You know, a game doesn't have to be 100% real, same goes for Era, so if you want realism, live your life. Era should keep some of it's old pking style, people loved it, that's why we had a neat playercount back then. I also think the huge doors should die forever, they're ugly as hell

. Oh, and we should bring back the old quests, no reason to remove them, they were pretty easy to handle.

As long as I can run around with my katana, dodging bullets since most everyone sucked with guns, and I can blow up random buildings and then "ctrl + l" then I'd be happy.

I always said that there's no point in absolute realism in a game. You wanna know what game is realistic? It's called life. Go outside.

But, anyway, that doesn't apply to these ideas. I really don't find myself rolling to dodge bullets or blowing up buildings in real life.

-Keep old PKing style; These ideas being said such as "climbing stuff", "duck and roll", "hop over fences" and "sneak through vents(wtf?)" are just uncanny when it comes to Era.
-Huge doors; Remove them-- Hell yeah.
-I'm all for removing the wound system.
-Adding sports to the events list would sound pretty neat.

I agree, keep PKing the same. But someone wanted to add in crazy elaborate mouse aiming guns or roll dodge moves, it might be fun sometimes, in an event level.

It's annoying, you'd be walking around trying to get from one place to another, someone would shoot you when you don't feel like PKing, so even why you manage to get away from the annoying fool that's stalking you for a kill, you'd still be bleeding and losing your HP. In my opinion it is a waste of time.

*Sigh* Did I ever mention that I really, really loved these awesome melee weapons? The bo staff, blookat's "the novus" sword, the boomerang, katanas, and the chain? Man... Even though they were kind of lame, who cares? I'd love to see them on new Era...
