Okay, Kingdoms are underway. Don't ask, you can't see em until either they are totally finished or possibly if we give a teaser like with Kaitou. For now, I'm sure you've all probably started thinking of your character and kingdom. So, I'd like to hear them.

This forum is for the discussion of Kingdoms on 2k1 and RPing that goes along with them. So discuss. Ideas, characters, events, anything. What would you like to see on 2k1's RP scene once the Kingdoms are up? Sure, suggestions are everywhere in this forum, but this is a nice way to concentrate them

I dont know who made those levels but the ones I saw where complete crap. The Kaitou what ever. I recommend completely redoing it. I cant comment on the other kingdoms as I havnt seen the tiling yet but you'll hear about it when I do if its bad. 2k1 had a history of high standards I'd appreciate it if these standards didnt go down the crapper with it going classic.

I think how kingdoms are currently being done are completely bad. The whole set up is one big snafu. I mean you're forcing people to RP Rolls they might not want to. It would have been better to have players come up with there own kingdoms and submit them kind of like how they where done in the past. Then either have them make there own levels. (Like the past) or start them off with very small out posts in which they could raise kingdom funds. (getting money out of the economy) To higher architects and RP Work men to build up buildings castles walls toilets holes in the ground. Basically what ever the King felt the kingdom needed and that fit into the RP Scheme of the kingdom they submitted. Now you have people forced to take rolls. Going through players in a popularity contest in hopes they'll make good leaders. Or giving the leadership positions to all staff. Either way its nothing but one bad idea after another. Which could easily be better implemented numerous ways.

You have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. I am pleased so far as to what I have seen and the progress that is being done. Everyone shall be happy in the end.

To bad that I do as I've been talking to various staff members. Even if I had no clue as to what was going on that still wouldn't change the fact that the levels shown so far are complete crap.

Hi, you may have seen one kingdom that one staff member was working on.

Each kingdom is being worked on by someone else, so you can't really say they all will be bad based on what you've seen so far.

Each kingdom was submitted by a player. Player-submitted kingdoms: check.

Kingdoms under reconstruction: Check. The Zormite descendant will be constructing their kingdom as time goes on.

Also, leaders of kingdoms will basicaly be chosen by the people who submitted them, subject to staff approval (as it's always been). Considering that until just now, I haven't said how they'll be chosen, I find what you said to be quite humorous.

No I said from what I had seen so far was crap. I didnt say all the kingdoms where the same.

From what I've been hearing from Staff it will be Staff that are made leaders of various kingdoms. I'm rather curious as to what players submitted these kingdoms and names? If you're referring to people giving ideas for types of kingdoms that really isnt a player submitted kingdom assuming thats what you're referring to.

Not to mention doing decendants of any previous kingdoms is a bad idea because it will lead to the same old stale stereotypes and RP's. I also hear some one was trying to use old dustari levels but from what I heard that was snuffed but the kingdom in question is basically a remake of dustari from what I've been hearing.

Regardless of if all kingdoms levels are being made by different people that doesnt mean one that is crap should be allowed.

Having entire kingdoms just layed out and putting people in is still a bad idea. You could easily have loads of RP's set up if you just started off with a couple of levels for each kingdom and then had them RP with construction workers or so.

Also putting all your eggs in a basket and saying this is what will bring 2k1 back isnt a good move either. Because sure it might work for a while but then it can just as easily drop down again. Hopfully you guys have it planned out to stop that.

Here's where semantics are important. When you say "From" something, you are saying you are making a judgement based upon a certain fact, thus you are saying that you are judging all kingdoms based on the one. The other possibility is that you worded it improperly, and merely meant to say that same sentence but without the 'from' (i.e. 'what I had seen so far was crap'). Regardless, I've already said that they'll be fine.

First, a kingdom leader may be staff, but it's not like there's a big deal (Note that staff works on the dev server, not 2k1 per se). The majority of kingdom leaders are normal players.

What players? Anyone was allowed to submit a kingdom idea, and 5 people voted on the final kingdoms. In the two cases that one of the people who submitted a kingdom was also a member of the panel, that person did not get to vote on that kingdom.

And how the hell is submitting a kingdom idea, and then overseeing its development, different from submitting a kingdom? I'd like to know.

No, old dustari levels were never even in consideration. That was the whole thing about new kingdoms - no old levels.

Sure, there would be stereotypes, but as the kingdoms do happen to be new, and different, and have different attitudes, it won't be 'same old stale stereotypes and RPs'.

Whoever said that a 'crap kingdom' would be allowed? If the levels are not up to par, they will be reworked until they are.

True, and to some extent the kingdom levels will be under-construction when they are first out.

Actually, if you haven't noticed from all the posts, the only people who really play right now are the hardcore moneymakers/powergamers/etc, most RPers who would play, don't play because the kingdoms aren't out yet.

So, when the kingdoms come out, we're also shooting to release a few other things simultaneously (and other stuff in the successive weeks).

So, to summarize, we're not 'putting all our eggs in one basket', it's merely a fact that most people will be coming back upon the release of kingdoms, and that we have other stuff planned to keep them there.

I didn't mean to say all the levels are crap just the ones I had seen so far. Which is the current kingdom preview. I just figured it was being used since it was released as a preview.

I know some one had tried to use dustari levels from what one staff member told me but that was quickly snuffed out from what I hear. I didnt mean to emply that you where allowing it to go through with it just that some one had tried to. Which made me think it was going to be kind of like the whole inra thing same kingdoms new names only this time with some new levels. But no way to know for sure until its released.

Glad to see you wont have massive empires to start out with.

All in all you answered most of what I was worried about. With steady updates with kingdoms all should go well. Just not like the last kingdoms release then no updates. Of course part of that problem was it was just the same old levels.

The only leader I know of is that of Malenth, which is Signas.

Ok, my character is gonna be Drakken Darkraven's father... since technically 2k1 is the predicessor of 2k2, shouldn't the ancestors be in 2k1? anywho, he's gonna be a teifling (i would have made him a daemon, but for RP purposes, we'll have him a teifling too) like all teiflings, he is resistant to fire and electricity, and can cast the spell "darkness" over an area. more or less likely, He'll be nomadic... a mercinary.. and might settle down with the pirates or dustari...

sure this is kinda a rough history... but i'll work on it...
a reason that I can't have any old characters ( drakken, ivelios, others) is because it would cause a paradox that would confuse unimaxd and he'd trip over the NPC server cord again XD
