DSL Support

Why doesnt DSL work very well with this game? I mean its fine with other games and my DSL can dl up to 900kbs (although its usually 150, I only got a steady 900 once) Also I can view other players walking fine, apparently, to other people, I have major delay. (Although they dont seem to exhibit it, they hit me exactly where I am)
Any way to fix this?

Your modem/router may be blocking UDP packets.

F1 -> General Options -> General Tab -> Don't use UDP for data packages.

See if that helps.

zell12 has a spectacular aura about
Send a message via ICQ to zell12 Send a message via AIM to zell12 Send a message via MSN to zell12
If not then call your isp and get them to add the port for graal to their list.

I can add ports myself. You just go into the router and add em...what is the port though?

You can set a fixed UDP port in the Graal options

hmm

I know you typed "particularly", so I'm not trying to contradict ; just adding

if his download speed is slow (regardless of upload speed), it could still cause that "delay" to other players (assuming that it's "his" fault) if they judge it on how long it takes for him to "be hit" or some of the other effects that are still client dependant (as far as I know)

my transfer speeds are usually fast (both ways -- I do have SDSL), but the latency between my connection and Graal's servers always seem to be unstable and high, so I have a delay also, and appear to be "skippy" often to players

maybe should try pinging the server(s) too

"Da CHeeTa" was on a few weeks ago showing me that he wasn't hurt by swords, bombs etc. .. hmm

maybe I'm wrong and he faked it somehow, but I know it at least used to be client side because a lot of people had/made "trainers" to make themselves invunerable to those things

I had the same problem, and stefan gave me a ip and port for graal, my isp added it and it runs fast. I think the port would be 14911 or 19411 or something around there, I forget.

I also have this problem. My ping lies somewhere in the 40-50 ms. Does upload actually affect your delay? Because my upload is dead a little also.

Your ping? Do you mean, your ping to Graal Online (discovered by a ping or tracert command)? Or in other online games?

Well, adding the port didnt work, so I tried turning on the DMZ host, and while its risky, so far, no one has said anything. But I have spared in a while either so...

You need to set up the port in your DSL router to forward UDP ports in [port] to [your computer's private IP].

What was? Your ping? To the dslreports.com server? To their hosts? What? I don't understand. Ping varies by location, not by speed; you don't have the same latency to every website everywhere.
