It's time to implement this

Alright, we are all happy with how Kingdoms is turning out, but something is still missing...

Day and Night!
Yes, much like 2K1, Kingdoms needs a day and night function! I'm getting tired of being in perpetual day, so perhaps it's time that the Kingdom Developers consider putting in Day and Night. Here's an example of how it would work

Day and Night would last 1 hour each, and start with Dawn at around 7 AM and Dusk and sundown at 6 PM, 7 PM would be dusk, and 8 PM is full night.

Day would go from 6 AM to 6 PM, and Night would run from 6 PM to 6 AM, and would be signified by light.

At Dawn, things get a little brighter, by noon, the over world would look how it is now. When 6 PM rolls by, the light starts to fade a bit to a reddish orange color, at 7PM, the reddish color would change to a darker color, and at 8PM, you have night, which would continue to get darker until Midnight, then begin to get brighter at 6 AM. Night would not be represented by a dark shaded color, but instead a dark blue shaded color, so that people can still see.

Besides the cosmetic look, new events would happen at Day and Night. For instance, at Day, you have monsters that you see now, Mushrooms, Bommys, etc. But when Night comes, the Muchrooms, Rabits, and Bommys are all changed to night time monsters, such as bats, rats, and Night bommys.

Towns would also change as well. Some shops will close at night, such as the Post office at 6 PM, the Smithee at 7 PM, and general stores at 9PM. While others, such as the card house and select general stores, would stay open all night. Now, add Taverns to the town, which only open at 8 PM, where people can go to relax, get a drink, and hang out.

Role Playing would also be made more realistic. Night attacks could be waged or used as stealth, and meetings can be held at night or day depening on when the leader decides.

The time would be represented by the standered 12 hour clock, which would be found below the stat bar. So when it's 8 AM, it would show as 8:00 AM, and when it's 6:55 PM, it would be shown as 6:55 PM. Days would last 2 hours real time, seeing as Day and Night would both last 1 hour each.

A Day/Night System like this would make Kingdoms much funner and more realistic for Role Playing, not to mention make it pretty cool and funner then it already is.

What about people with older computers or no DX or no 3d card?

Can they turn lights off (and see perfectly well at night), or are they banned from the game they paid for? Or are they forced to carry stupid lamps wherever they go so that everyone else can see them as well as they can see everyone else? Or does everyone else vanish completely somehow, despite the lack of such a scripting command to hide and show specific other players to the client?

It would still be cool to see people carrying torches, lighting campfires or themselves, sitting around at night... would make RPing much more interesting,, but yeah, could be changed by players or screw p those who don't have it, but still, would be cool Maybe you only notice it on battle? that way you dont have to see it, and battle is the RP mode now, sorta.

So does that mean you can only be in battle mode if you have DX on? And then what happens if you turn off DX while in Battle Mode?

MasterNuke will become famous soon enough
*scratches head* Hmm... If I remember right, when Graal in C++ is finally made... it will take up less resources... which means making a day/night THEN will be more pleasing to people than now... I dunno... got nothing else to say right now ^.^

For those unable...

The answer is simple though if people's computer cant handle it...

Turn of Direct 3D lights. No, you wont get that neato shadeing, but you can still know what time it is simply by using the in game clock that is displayed below the Stat bar, so people who cant or dont want to use the pretty lights, dont have to.

Simple as that

You're missing the point. If I turn off lights, I have no trouble whatsoever seeing in the dark and thus making sneak-attacks, while everyone else is all Woo, it is spooky and dark, I cannot see my assailant.

This occurs in G2k1, the answer: no one gives a damn about whether the rest have day/night on or off. PKers still PK as if day/night didn't matter. The newbs run or fight, as if day/night didn't matter. Overall, the idea is good (I LOVE the tvern idea )

Solution: if you can or can't see your assilant, RUN! or don't be on bmode.

this is why you buy the spell night vision or whatever it's called.

make it so you WONT be able to turn off the light effects... for this server...
and also.. there is a requirment for a good video card for g2k2... so if they can't see the night effects then theynre not meeting the requirments...they should buy a better card

But Stefan doesn't want to have to put restrictions such as having a good video card on it so you can play.
It only loses him money so I doubt he's gonna make it light effects or no play.
If it is implemented I can't see it being much different that Graal Bomy Moons day and night system.

Making requirements would lose players, so Stefan wouldn't do it.
