RP Gods

Some MMORPGs have people RPing the gods. Not sure if this would work on kingdoms, as there is a horrid lack of rping, but thought I would mention it. Maybe would work for "god wars", as was mentioned in other post.

Sorry for short post, but am v. sick and should not stay at computer long as it hurts my head.

It's like this. Lets say that King Larrien of Dustari wants to worship the fallen Viking Spirit of Erik Heimdal. Then he would go to the altar and drop like food, stones, minerals, weapons, anything. It wouldn't be corrupted, as the dieties would have to be trusted people who could never go corrupt. And there is always the Mutal Blessings... But like the dieties would fight and such, leading nations into war... and bringing destruction and glory.

You say "But Zurkiba NPCs can do that", Now picture this... The Voodoo cult on the Pirate Island is trying to contact the spirit of their lord Girum. Then Girum can be summoned there and help the pirates out.

The dieties would have a set level and they cant level up or anything... Like lets say there is the player-diety that is for peace... that person would have a level of like five. But the other player-diety is a sword-bearer... that person would be like level 8.

Wouldn't it be cool though? Like Zormite is going to war soon, so they call apon their great diety, Blahblahentersomerandomnamehere. Their diety is a warmonger, so the level is around nine. They can ask the diety to help them in the war if they were faithful enough and if they prayed enough and everything.

It would be the ultimate RPing experience and it would be rather fun. You could worship Aftershock and he could be summoned to help govern the state for a little bit.

And yet again, a guideline would be set so noone could be corrupt. Like in order for a diety to help you, then you need like 20 hours of worship. But lets say you just want A Handaxe of Erik... then you would need like 5 hours of worship. Or something like that.

The tags would be like (Diety)
Erik Heimdal the (Diety) or something

maybe something like (Diety of <dominion>)
(Diety of Soverignty) [Priest]
(Diety of Warfare) [Warrior]
(Diety of Wealth) [Thief]
(Diety of Power) [Barbarian]
(Diety of Science) [Alchemist]

level 9? If they're a god they should be like level 15.

If you're a god you should be unhurtable but completely unable to fight (except in special battles), and chosen purely for your RPing ability. It would be a case of giving up everything you own (skills, items, weapons, whatever) for the roleplaying opportunity.

Actually, when in tag, you can't fight, but have more access to other people, etc. When off tag, you're OOT, so you can fight, etc.

I disagree
Hurtable and able to fight, but not die. Like in the Iliad and other Greek novels. When I think it's Diomedes, stabs Ares/Mars with a spear, Ares retreats in pain and his wounds are closed by Zeus.

Godhood shouldn't be an aid to PKing. Either the God player would be normal-powered, in which case everybody would say 'wtf that god is not very powerful', or he'd be super-powered, in which case everyone would complain because idiots like boukon would get chosen and become even more powerful. If you give power with the position then all it'll ever be is a power commodity, not an RPing role.

Player-gods should be powered by popularity. Evil gods with many fans are powerful, good gods with many fans are powerful, stupid newbie PKer gods with no fans are weaker than if they were regular mortals and so Descend.

It's hard enough to play an incomplete character (i.e. one with weaknesses, a tricky past and such), I doubt anyone on GK would be able to properly rp as an omnipotent being, without people complaining - specially about what they think of as abuse, no matter whether it is or not. I'd say it'd be too much trouble to a) find someone, b) keep him/her in check, c) deal with all the complaints, and d) still it would not get people to RP - I doubt few followers of Govannon would do what an apropriate player orders them to do.

Maybe instead of Kingdoms, we could have religions, and the current kings of kingdoms would become gods an everyone his followers, and instead of islands, we could have cathedrals and temples and mosques and caves

Even if such a person who was truly trustworthy and stuff did exist, he would never be found. The staffers who would have the power to implement this diety jazz dont know -everyone- on the server, and even if they did meet this totally trustworthy person, they wouldn't know anything about them and wouldnt know if they were to be trusted or not and stuff.

The only way we could do some form of player-diety stuff is just to do it within rings of friends. So like, a bunch of people get together and they say "Hey, we all worship govannon, let's start a cult!" and they go around trying to convert people to govannon or smiting those who badmouth govannon (no, not just going around pking anyone who doesnt worship govannon -_-) - there could be little skirmishes between say bile and brigid cults though

To add staff powers into this and alter a player to make him dietyified wouldnt work, it's just an invitation to jealousy, corruptedness and PKing o_o

I don't think it works like that either way - making people into gds because they have a good level has nothing to do with rping, while giving rpers a high level to play gods will cause people to complain and cry abuse. If at all, high-leveled rpers should get that position, or rather, in my opinion, nobody at all.
