This has already been asked here. More than once. Why do you care? It doesn't hurt, does it? There are nice ideas and some scripts here which are worth reading. Even if they are not implemented.

Tyhm has a spectacular aura about
It is a bit of a relic - a throwback to when Bomys were a new and wonderful thing, before the realization came that making 2 totally independant races means twice as much work, or half as many people are happy with each update...

So races are pretty much canned. Yet the forum remains, because some people still think they're spiffy. I suppose they'd be a good add-on, for a Completed server, one that's stable and has a complete set of levels - once you have it set up that a human can do everything, let people restart and try it again as a Bomy, as a Zulite, as a Zorbi...

I tried using races as a diversion'ry tactic on Classic. Didn't go over well. I shoulda just introduced one, balanced it like mad, and then gone on to the next instead of dropping them all at once. Now everyone's (still) complaining Zorbi can't fight (which is the point), Aliens are too slow (also the point), Vampires have crummy defense (see the last two), Humans don't get anything cool (duh), and yet asking when the baddies come out...

On the other hand, it's a success so far as experiments go - All the races work. Excepting a few bugs now and then regarding quests checking playerswordpower, a Zorbi can coexist with a Human without requiring a Zorbi Pinball Arena and a Zorbi Health Quest. If your races are subtle tweaks, they can improve a server.

This is the lesson of the New Races Forum.

Wow.

I still think that there should be a use for this, but there really isn't...

Sigh.
