1) Is seems to me that, especially from lag spikes/video card lag, monsters have the distinct ability to attack continuously. Is it possible to set a default attack speed for all monsters and edit them where plausible? This could help melee'rs, and even though I am not one, I understand how difficult it is.
2) With 2002's instant popularity with the introduction to dungeons, etc. why not open up an auction house to stimulate trading and make it more secure? These 'scammers' are one of the most damaging plagues on the server, and with legit trading/auction houses the system could rid the server of theft.
Possibly a system similar to the bank, with multiple rooms, wherein the players use a command such as /trade Item name, Item name, Item name, Monetary amount, other variables, etc. and then a level NPC could display the items being traded by both parties, and the trade would not commence until both type /trade yes or something similar. Just a thought...I don't care if you steal from it or completely deviate...
3) Nation Conflicts: Is this possible to integrate in the future? This is getting ahead of myself and the server in general due to nations not being complete, but the concept would be nice. Structured similarly compared to Classic's fort system, but without the clutter and possible bonuses to certain stats for owning the majority of forts, etc.? Again, another random idea, and it would not be so impossible to create.
4) Taking this from an old online game I used to play many many years ago...and I liked the idea...
Instead of randomly rolling for stats, why not make the player answer questionnaires towards what they prefer? Questions pertaining to alignment, preference of strength/intelligence/wisdom, and their own personal views towards life etc. This could create the ideal character for their player and would ultimately give the player the instant environment of a roleplaying server if done properly.
Of course, I think the questionnaire should strongly suggest the class/race type, instead of forcing the player to. But, I think some questions should have direct relation to the stat rolls, or whatever the rolling system evolves into, if anything.
5) Client Sided Spells (Optional) The only spells that are graphically represented on the player's monitor are the spells that they, their own character, cast. This reduces lag on two levels, one being unaffected by the Cold Rain/Fire Area-Of-Effect spells on the same map but a great distance away, and local spells cast by party members. I have also noticed that players lag much less when they cast their own spell, they do not have as many problems or slowdown troubles when their own spell is being executed. I can also run fairly well through my own spells, which reinforces this evidence.
6) Pants. Greaves. Leggings. Leg-plates. Whatever you want to call them, the fully-equipped Barbarian looks very impressive, except for those nekkid legs!
7) Building off of the pants/appearance idea: Dyes for armors. The alchemistry ability could create the dyes while the ingredients can be find off monsters, dug up, grown, etc. I know many people, including me, who would pay a lot of extra money to be a black-plated warrior, or a white-robed priest...and so on.
That's all for now, these are simply suggestions, and I'd appreciate discussion, not flaming =) |
