Okay, over the past two months, I have been working on Cira Baen, without anyone knowing.

I have decided to let the public know and also to ask your opinion on what the fate of Cira Baen should be...

If I continue with Cira Baen, many will think it is a rip of 2002, which I don't want to happen.

So I just don't know what to do anymore...

For now, no screenshots will be released.

But if you remember any of the old screenshots, throw those out too, Cira Baen has went through a total revamp.

But, I can tell you some things about it.

Character Selection:
When a player logs in, a character selection screen will appear, you can have a maximum of three characters. From this screen you can create a new character, delete a character, or play using the currently selected character. For new characters, you will have 3-6 different attributes you can point a certain amount of skill points in.

RPG System:
Level, Experience, Health, Mana, Karma, etc, etc.

Skill System:
There are 20+ different skills so far, ranging from Alchemy, Fishing, and Cooking. The player will have the option to choose which skills he/she would like better themselves at, drain their knowledge of, or just remain at the certain skill level. Skills will increase (if choosen) with use. But there is a cap at how many points will be allowed for all the skills combined, such as 500.

Fighting System:
Regular type fighting system, monsters/animals will roam the wilderness. Just walk up and attack. Some animals will be aggresive, some will run. Players will also be able to PK, but not without being punished. PKing is a high crime in the world of Cira Baen and will not be tolerated, you will be branded a criminal and can be killed without any punishment to the other player. Once killed, your criminal status will be removed.

Kingdoms:
There will be about three kingdoms total. Kingdoms can declare war on each other as they see fit and may also ally with other kingdoms. While in war status, you will not be branded a criminal as long as you are part of the war and only kill revival kingdom members that are taking part of the war.

Well, I certainly am glad to see that everyone has such positive support.

I think I shall continue with Cira Baen, despite 2002.

I think this thread was just to see what our thoughts were on the basic premise of the PW :o

I have never player Ultima Online, believe it or not.

Myself and a friend at school thought some of the ideas, maybe he played UO, not exactly sure.

Either way, I feel confident in Cira Baen.

I heard about Cira Baen a while ago when some guy was harrassing me to be his LAT Chief.

It will not be a recolor, trust me.

I really wish Stefan would add the ability to add tiletype definitions for your tileset, instead of using the current one. It would allow for a more variety of tiles and better organizational possibilities.

As for the screenshots, I may release one in a week or so.

Ok. My first sketch is 374 levels. No without any generator. I layed out the work on paper, then did a grid. The level is every half inch so its 22 (x) * 17 (y) = 374. When I layed out the grid over the lanscape, i kinda did it upside down X.X so... the numbers are upside down but as long as you can see the crap i guess its ok. I'll scan it, then draw more on the comp with it.

I like the 3 characters idea, like on UO. I also think it would be cool, as in UO, that when you decide your name thats what it is, forever....you can have a GM change it but you have to have a good reason. You can join guilds but in UO, you arent supposed to join more than one...UO, is more "mature" and it would be bad for graal to turn that way...

Darn it. Another UO rip, anyways, I've always liked the idea of 3 character selection, that way you can experience the game from different angles without having to have more than one P2P.

And I was also considering having a one-time name deal and also no one could choose an already taken name. If I would do this then it would be more RPish, but it would most likely piss people off.

What are your comments and thoughts on the name idea?

That is a lot what UO is like, RPish, and GM's can change names if needed, and they delete non-proper names.
Another thing I think wud be kool is if you did like they do, they dont have tons of staff, they have GM's and the creators, and you only see a GM if you "page" one, it makes them seem very powerful. Such as my friend was playing on a server called Great Lakes on UO and these 2 guys came and were doing something illegal, and an undercover GM came walking by and was like, isnt that illegal, and they said, "shutup"....(not knowing he was a GM)
so then he turned his name to gold (showing he was a GM) pulled out his uber GM weapon, and killed them both with one hit leaving their stuff to all the watchers....
they are juss like really badass, you respect them, unlike how most staff on graal is not respected.
Also in UO, there are respected killers and things of that sort, there are less guilds...and there are "Player run towns".
To have a Player Run town (On the server Arcodia at least) you have to have at least 3 buildings, which each cost money, I like the Idea of much of this coming to graal, it would be awesome and would bring a lot more mature breed of fans to Graal.
I would love to play and work on this server...
I dont suggest that you make tons of different kinds of staff...
when you are making it, yes, have your NAT's LAT's and stuff, but then make them all one staff when the server goes up, if you need anything added (such as they will add areas for weddings on UO) a GM or whatever you want to call it can make it.
Also make a chat system so they can call a person for help, make it like

Call Admin: "Message"

and it goes into a small chat system or its like a guild message to all Guild Admins....

Well I personally love the name idea and also the GM idea, that would be extremely cool.

As for the staff thing, I have no idea how to fix that up, I mean, I'll have to have RC accounts for more than just GM's.

If there were an option to hide RC's, that would be very useful *hint hint Stefan*.

Anyways, I think I will implement this name system.

Any comments and ideas are welcome.

well, we didnt know, and so its not copying, we are still gunna use it, o yea i am staff on Cira Baen now, not exactly sure what, probably GM....
We've come up with lots of good Ideas, but for now are in need of awesome GFX people...

Although I am strong in scripting, I lack GFX talent.
