Well, it's taken me a few days to get the design the way I want it, but this is the end result.
Note, he is without hair, and any accessories. This is an in game recording. The sprite is actually a naked body, with pants, a head, shoes, shirt and jacket on it. Meaning everything is seperated, for maximum customization. I have only completed the front idle, and front walking view.. I have a rough layout of the side view I'm working on now.
The characters in Oasis will go beyond the normal Graal character. There will no longer be "sethead" "setbody" or any color setting for clothes.
Everything is seperated, so that players could walk into a shop, buy a new jacket, and change it right there. No need for setting your body to 20 different body designs, because you can customize everything the player is wearing.
The bodies will come in multiple skin tones, for even more customization. Several of the players weapons and items will be carried on the body:
Sword will go in scabbard hanging around shoulders
Shield will hook over the scabbard
Bags of gold and items can be tied to the belt
Hats and helmets can be worn
Packs and large bags can be worn on the back
Gloves and shoes can be worn on hands and feet
The templates for clothing and accessories are much like the hat templates on 2k1, so they are quite simple to edit and change. (meaning it will be easy to make lots of variety)
Phew.. if the characters have this much detail.. I can't imagine what the gameplay and levels will be like.
