Post Concerning the current state of Graal2001, and the most likely future state.

This post might be long, and if you have nothing intelligent to say that is pertenent to the topic (State of graal2001/2) then don't bother posting.

I feel that konidias is right in a way, although I dislike him and his work; he was on the right track. Graal2001 was turned into a roleplaying server, which was good (at the time). It was different from classic, and somewhat better. It wasn't all roleplaying, which served as a good and bad aspect. PKers (non-roleplayers) usually interrupted events, and roleplayers usually got in the way of PKers, or didn't roleplay at all.

Graal2002 seems to be a place for complete roleplaying. PKing seems to be eliminated by stats not going up (deaths, kills, etc) but will that stop the people from trying to PK? If you don't bother with a sytstem that will completely mess up and take alot of time away from you, then you're going to have to have alot of alert and active staff.

Anyways,
Birdbird said it took him like three hours to make that one level that looked a little messed up...
If it takes six hours to make one good looking level, how long will it take to finish the whole six or seven maps? This project is too time consuming, although nice and somewhat worthwhile. Graal2001 could die with Loriel and Birdbird working on 399,999 projects for Graal2002. We didn't see that many updates from them, anyway.

To summarize it all up in a few sentances:

Graal2002 is going to take most of the Graal2001 admins, and most of the employed, perfectly capable/skilled people to update Graal2001, which means (most likely) no updates.

Give Graal2002 a few months to get itself together, and work on graal2001 at the same time. Or hire new admins to fix it up. Not everyone wants to roleplay on Graal2002.

[*Note: I am not against the project, people working on it, or anything like that. I just simply believe that Graal2002 is taking up too much of the Graal2001 admins' time, meaning no updates, and eventually it will die out.]

yes i realized that too

the only admins that are on are faqs, police, events team...sometimes birdbird or loriel get on

the account administrators are smart though, they rotate everywhere which is good to see

if new people ARE hired for graal2001, how would they be picked?

Not a clue.

Tyhm runs classic perfectly, in my opinion, and you don't see him jumping to help with 15,000,000,000 projects, do you?

Most likely that Loriel and Birdbird would get to pick them, though.

Loriel was picked because he was good at scripting, and probably because he knows stefan in real life, and Stefan trusts him.

Antago helped with the project.

Konidias and Birdbird worked up from level makers, to Head Level makers, and then they got FTP and considered themselves "Admins."

Delete your post. I don't want any stupid posts like that here.

It makes no sense, and that wasn't what he was talking about.

well they both have RC and FTP, so many people would consider them to be admins

I agree.. that is why I quit staff.. there is no point in even playing graal and being staff for one of the main servers if they are just going to be replaced in a year.. it's like laying off servers. "Oh well, we have this new server I'm so giddy about so let's forget about the old one we worked hard on"

In my opinion, 2k1 will fall apart if it keeps up how it is.. and 2k2 won't be far behind since everyone from 2k1 will move over to 2k2 and most will just be pissed non-rpers from 2k1 that will come to ruin the rp experience on 2k2.. then Stefan will have a community of pissed non-rpers, and pissed rpers, and then with the increased upgrade price, come upgrade time, no one will want to shell out even more money to play Graal. At least, I know I won't. So Stefan, in my mind, you screwed Graal over yourself.

It should be called Graal RPG.
Not some new yearly game/server that is released every year with a new name like Graal2003. If they keep doing this, graal is going to have some serious problems.

hmm.. I think I could make good levels but no one ever gives you a chance if you know what I mean. I spend like one hour on each level I do, and they allways look great. But it's sad that birdbird made all the levels for 2001 because there all in a sort of way the same. So if you dont make levels like he does then it's not good. Stefan should have tryouts for Level Makers like tyhm dose. Where it's on the news page and then you send your levels to a e-mail address. But what I am saying is that 2001 needs more active staff! Like did you guys even know that chris kill'em is a police officer for graal2001! err..

Stefan will get a new idea and call it Graal2003 and start working on that and neglecting Graal2002.

This is probably why Graal3d was never finished.

All the staff on 2k2 are so excited to be working for 2k2, yet come december of this year, Stefan will get bored of 2k2 and want to make another server.. it's like a pattern.. He makes classic, got bored and left it, makes 2k1, gets bored and leaves it, making 2k2, will get bored and leave it.

I can see it now, 2k3, with 5000 more empty levels, even stupider staff, and even uglier levels slapped together using big default house images.

I don't know what stefan was thinking when he got this artist to do all the houses and stuff.. you call that variety? Each town has one different type of house and then that one house is changed by adding one chimney to it, two chimneys to it, and a bad moss effect on them.. wow, that's variation!

If birdie has that many jobs and has to do them , he desrves being orrupt on 2k1 , kaaaaaaay.
and ther won't be no graal2003 when graal2002 comes out it will stay out til newworld comes out and when newworld is out no more server comming , kay?and newworld will take more then 1 year to complete , beacuse they have just started from 0 with the levels and many things.. And I don't like 2001 anyway it sucks , I hope tyhms stays on classic or moves to 2002 or newworld!

YOU go away. Konidias has more right to post here than you.

;\

Graal2001 only 'sucks' because of the Admins working on Graal2002 and too many projects, meaning no time to work on Graal2001.

Konidias, why don't you make a server? That would be great! Because now you have no job so you could devote your time to a server of your own.

Please remove your lips from Stefan's rear. He is making 2k2 to make cash out of Graal, also, he thinks 2k2 is so great that he can charge even more for people to play. Next year he will have new programming things he wants to add yet even worse gameplay and design, and charge even more? I can't wait to see the prices for account upgrades soon.

The reason people are willing to shell out 50 dollars for one game from the store, is because those games are professional quality, and are made by people that know what they are doing. In my opinion, online gaming is a rough route to travel if you plan on making an earning from it. With video/pc games that aren't online, you don't have to worry about maintaining them for the rest of your life.

What is going to happen when Stefan just doesn't have time for Graal anymore? Like when he gets a family or whatever and can't work on Graal for more then 2 minutes a day. Then he's going to have hundreds of angry people that have nothing to play. Refunds anyone? Stefan has to face the facts, if he doesn't get Graal going strong again, he is going to be filing for bankruptcy and sending a lot of people their money back.

Your starting to turn into a new soulblade :-/ but now newworld is graal2002.And stefan doesn't run graal alone you know cyberjoueur they own it to , not just stefan.

[edit]For me graal is a professionaly made game and I love it much more then games like Diablo , and saying that he will charge more , how do you know that? That is just a wild guess you have there.

Because Stefan just makes a bunch of new stuff instead of fixing and making better what he currently has. It will keep going on like this and something/someone needs to tell him to stop what hes doing and make what he currently has, better.

I was thinking about doing that.. but I would want it to be p2p so I could actually have some nice features on it.. but then of course, that would be making Stefan more money if people upgraded to play on it, and I'm not one for giving him more money when he can't keep his game together.

I would much rather make my own games.. I don't like to work under people because no matter what you do, you're always going to be limited by them. If I make my own server, who knows, someone could come on there telling me how to run my staff and server just because they are a global admin or something.

Turning graal2001 into what graal2002 would be VERY hard and it would look ugly on the map that graal2001 has now .

Would your games be online?
And if so how long would it take to make one? Because I can't take graal anymore and I don't want to be a guy that just nukes hot pockets all day and watches T.V.

Maybe because I know more about 2k2? I know Stefan a little better then you? I know what goes on behind the scenes?

In no way am I trying to insult Graal, and I'm not anti-Graal.. I'm just trying to point out the major flaws that are sprouting up everywhere and trying to make Graal better.. Judging by the fact that most people agreed with me, I don't feel my opinion is far off from everyone elses in this matter. =/
