Well, in all fairness, I gave him guild control prior to him receiving manager of classic iphone.

^ This. I was looking at this thread earlier and just felt that "Congratulations" wasn't quite the word for it. What you said comes pretty close though.

What are you guys expecting a Guilds Admin to do? All I see is that it's just a matter of seeing if any guilds are ready to be approved or not.

They could expand their role to cover guild events, new guild features, etc. Otherwise scrap the position and have PWA take care of it instead.

Isn't that what server's should be doing? Last time I checked participation and interest in cross server events was pretty low, which would put cross server guild events in the same boat so that would just be a wasted effort.

New features on the website will never happen since the global guild system is fairly unchangeable by anyone except for Stefan. Functions to manage a global guild from the client would also require Stefan to provide the necessary functions to do so.

I don't think the Guilds Admin should have to do any advertising either since we have the Graal News Team to do so, this is just another thing to ask (Any guild events, etc.) to make news out of.

Edit: The PWA is taking care of it, Xor just has rights to do so which I assume was the point of this thread.

When and where did you check? Cross server events have always been popular as proven by the real graalmypic event and cross-server sparring tournies (Delteria and Babylon had a history of this). The last time we tried to get a graalmypics going players showed a lot of interest.

I never said the Guilds Admin would be the one to implement them but, rather, present them. I know Tig started a thread when he was hired which was a step in the right direction.

http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...ad.php?t=85088

I'm sure there are some little things we'd all like to see, with the Guild Admin being the perfect one to push for it. Moderators are here to moderate yet the dev mods sometimes do little events for posters to take part in.

I meant if the GA's only job is to approve/deny applicants then there's no point in having one.

I don't know what you're talking about. I spoke to many Era players and they are pretty much thrilled to do a cross server event between any server.

Also, most of you are wrong about the so called "failed" cross server event. I spoke to UN players and they liked the idea as well. The reason it didn't go was something because the way we "approached" it. However, it was a joke for the most part and UN administration took it too seriously. The players though that I talked to liked the idea though. Also, one reason Streety declined was since he said it would take the focus off the development of UN. If the Guild Admin worked on it, this wouldn't happen (Even though my proposal wouldn't effect the development in any way).

You could make it so it's only possible to make/join a party with a global guilds name if you are actually in the guild itself. Would make global guilds still be useful on era.

Which is why we need better support for global guilds. I planned to do this with a new gang system on Era using jerret's global guild stuff he shared in the code gallery, but a built-in isGlobalGuild()/other functions would be ideal.

Being able to manage your global guild in-game would be a huge step in the right direction imo.

Wouldn't it be simple to just check if the global guild exist and if so check to see if they player trying to form/join the party is in it?

Yes, that would be simpler. But then you wouldn't be using Global Guilds.

Wasn't there an idea to make a scripted Guild Control Panel so that you could manage your guild from inside the game without having to go to the website?

I would kind of like to see Era support global guilds now that the Gangs on the server are practically defunct.

Oh, that was the whole point of what I was saying. Allowing only global guild members to join/form a party with the name of the global guild.

Ya, I got that.
But then you'd still primarily be using Era's Party system, which for the most part feels too tacky and temporary for parties to really be competitive.
You'd need to manage your Guild through the Graal website Guild CP AND through the party system in the game (which is limited to 5 members).
Also your Global Guild wouldn't get any activity rating, because you wouldn't actually be setting a Global Guild tag (this was my main point; you'd still be circumventing the actual global guild tag system).

I'd rather if they just enabled global guilds and performed a check when somebody sets a guild tag to see if fewer than 5 people are already on that guild tag. If they even want to keep the 5 person limit for non-gang groups.

Having an in-game GuildCP would just make the global guild option umpteen times more convenient.

when armageddon was in the works, we pushed for this type of thing (since the server's entire focus was on global guilds) and we were told it was not an option. the real benefit would be from being able to pull up member lists and allow guilds to use certain features depending on where they stand in their global guild rankings. it doesn't save a lot of time having the CP in graal itself (though it would make it faster, i suppose)

fact is, i don't see why xor should be congratulated on attaining (more like forced upon, seemingly) a position that has nothing going for it. the only good thing coming from this is the time tigarius will save not having to accept guilds? i mean, big deal: why wasn't a thread made for xor when he became manager of classic iphone? (i didn't even know he had that position) at least that's a worthwhile job that deserves merit: global guild admin has never been important except in things like graalympics, and even then it was more the player's taking charge than anything else (and thym and angel back when they were game masters)

You can't prevent common courtesy, and it's not a big deal but i'm sure a small announcement such as this is useful so the community knows where they need to direct guild related issues.
