Try and censour this

<Okay, I will - Kaimetsu>

An example of how easy the censour could be avoided, and it's not like you're gonna censour every possible way to make out the word, because there's too many of them

ass
4ss
azz
4zz
/-\ss
/-\zz

and so on..

Again, like Kaimetsu said, profanity is less effective when you have to decipher it to read it.

Doesn't that just take us back to part 1? Part 1 being the current rules about the swearing issues. If people wants to talk with profanities, they'll just avoid the filter, and it will do nothing other than making people having to change a few letters in the swear, so unless this filter is going to contain more than just the plain word, it's capacitiy would greatly decrease.

How about this, *!*!*!*!*!*!*! (sorry for that, just for show)

There are other ways to accomplish those kinda things

*.**.***.* (yet again, sorry..)

There's another example.

Bottom line : Unless this filter will go all the way (by overseeing such patterns and such) , it wouldn't be as usefull as it could be.

ADDED : Also, how about slangs/names that contain profanities?such as :

wASSup = w***up
Assure = ***ure <-- that one could probably be misunderstood.

etc. etc.

So you're saying that people who swear are automatically idiots? I can't figure out how it could be "preserved" when the meaning itself still excists, it doesn't matter how I type it, does it?

I was explaining that people who use profanities will just avoid the filter, and you say that the filter will not be used for "idiots", stating my previous explanation of the group of people who DO use profanaties, so no, it was not "completely incorrect".

If you were to ignore it, why not ignore the REAL swearing word? Meaning there wouldn't be any difference.

Anyway.. If they agreed to it and broke that, and its a rule and break that, and is stopped with an Anti-filer and they try and get around/break that then they are ''Idiotic'' and shouldn't be playing graal as they are spoiling it for the rest of us. And for about the 16th time, the real words are offensive the ones with stars are not! Which is why i'd ignore stars!

I've never restrained you from "deciding" the meaning, I just summed it up, but maybe I missread it.

Why would that make them idiots? Because they don't abide to the swear filter? I might be way off there, but that's how I understand it.

Even if you were correct, and the profanity swear filter was all-but-useless, it would still probably block out atleast one word in one message, in which case it was worth adding.

Since filters doesn't really work, it would be
better to just log use of such words and
then temporary ban the player (if he hasn't
said it by mistake or quoted something)
Stefan said that, in this thread.

Basically same anti-swearing idea came up more than a year ago, but was not used.

I don't think any censorship things will go into graal, and I hope they don't too.
