Would you like to see the return of the pickle?

With the departure of Moon Goddess as a super moderator, I was thinking that I might return to the forums. However, I would like some input to see if anyone would like me to come back. I realize I've only been gone about two weeks, but I didn't anticipate such a short run from MGess and having to see her post was one of the things keeping me away.

So, what do you think? I'll keep the poll open for a week and the results will determine my course of action. Thanks for reading and taking me seriously for a moment.

So in other words you stay for the moderators, not the community? That's what I thought. And that's why neither you nor pickles are useful to the community.

As I recall, unless one was breaking a rule, moderators hardly had any say in one's business. I certainly have had no issues with them.

I left because the place had become a cesspool. You can think what you want about me and my reasoning, that doesn't bother me. The departure of Moon Goddess has the potential to bring forth a turning point in which the community could go back to how it used to be since she's the only one who really did any moderating. Also note that towards the end of my stay my negativity did change and I even gave positive comments when I thought a good decision was made. As far as being an asset, I think a certain individual who ran out of gold time and is developing a kick ass server would think otherwise, but that's not important. Being a part of the community and letting them hear my voice (whether you agree with it or not) was more important to me than "being an asset". When it came to the point of simple discussions being butchered, or completely shut off, I felt it was time to go.

Off topic: Anyone else think it was funny how unixmad promptly closed MGess' resignation thread the moment she was being totally obliterated by Kaimetsu? I especially loved his reasoning "it's going nowhere". It's interesting how anything that makes a valid point around here that doesn't favor the administration is promptly ended. I'd hate to be someone with an actual problem that needed to be solved with an administration with an attitude like this.

An administration that doesn't let it's staff be abused by a non-paying customer? I don't see how, by any logic, that constitutes an ethical breach. Part of Kai's argument was based on hearsay anyway, though I guess such sheep don't have any problem accepting it as fact.

Oh, I like the community itself - that's why I even come around these parts every so often. But, I'm sure you can grasp that the community is controlled (or at least influenced) by the moderators, thus poor moderation implies a negative impact on the community.

How about, just for the sake of argument, we consider the multitude of cases where the moderators have closed threads that 'went nowhere', 'had their point discussed', or any of the other frivilous reasons that were not in violation of any of the rules...?

Maybe it is not so much the rules, rather the way things are handled. Attitude, demeanor and so forth. I personally don't care about what rules are put forth as long as they do not restrict people from expressing themselves (in an appropriate manner that is). However if people are being looked down upon by older players or people in power are simply rude to the players, that should not be tolerable. I am not mentioning names, nor pointing out anybody. But it has happened, I believe that is why people dislike certain people or certain things at these forums.
