Don't let the title of the thread throw you off (ever see the Eggo commercial with that song?)..

Anywho, as of today and yesterday, I have noticed quite a few folk have been wandering around SL using it as a server to review for PWA applications. One such fellow that I was speaking with expressed that he really enjoyed the server, and exclaimed that he thought that it deserved better, as in a better playercount. Of course, this doesn't just magically happens...

So, he suggested that I post a few screenshots or a lil' something on the forums to peak some peoples interest. So, I took a couple of minutes to take some random snapshots (7, to be exact) to show some things. If I still had my ftp, I'd host all the screenshots on their, but since I don't anymore, please get ready for seven straight posts by me..

This is just yet a small sample, you'd have to see the rest yourself. If you want more details, ask away.

First screenshot: Me playing with the arrow weapon. You can aim where you want to fire and how much power to use before doing so. If you miss, the arrow will get stuck in the ground and you can pick it up again.

Fourth Screenshot: Me showing off one of the npcs that allow you to use your items (such as hp potion, mp potion, etc. etc.) and also drop them for trading. There are similar npcs like that for hats/weapons/etc. Notice the bridge to the left, that will be reopened and the whole left island will be redone (for those who have seen it in the way past).

Fifth Screenshot: Mining. The more you mine, the stronger your mining level becomes and the easier it is to break down rocks. Soon minerals will be also used to craft items.

Sixth Screenshot: Just me showing off the flute npc. You have to use it to open some doors in quests. The notes are colored like in the screenshot when you have light effects turned on, they look better black when you have no effects on though, imo. Also notice the rock baddy, and the rock breaking at the bottom is just a little system that gives a cave "cave-in" effect.

Final Screenshot: Just playing with the trident weapon you obtain in one of the storyline quests. Weapons also have secondary attacks that you use with the f button. Other weapons include a custom bomb npc, an axe, spear, and sai. The HP bar above my head is just a NPC that a staff member was working on. Not sure if it will be actually implemented onto the server in the future.

I haven't been on SL for awhile, but I remember the intro, and I really liked it, and I really liked the levels and the layout when I was there. I might have to go back sometime and look around

I always wondered why SL's player count was so low, I dont get it I guess, because it's a good server

The intro (in short).

You are a brave warroir going after an evil "mage" Arka. You confront him numerous times throughout the introduction and finally confront him on the mountain side. Where he attacks with his evil powers and causes you to lose your memory. You awaken, stuned,confused,wondering who and where you are.
You travel into the forest and find an acient grave. Once you enter you encounter the ghost of a long dead warroir that asists you and tells you that your were a strong warrior and explains what your main objective is. You collect the weapons of his and move to the small village of Nalik that was recenlty attacked by Arka and his forces. You help a dying man to fullfil his wish to be reunited with his young son that was trapped in a burning house. Once you return the boy you continue on your way into finding out who you are and what your destiny is. You are a "Shaded Legend."

You enter the main town (area0) and you now have to finish your quests to recover your memory and help restore order to the torn land.

Well, SL is a great server, but it wants to be all classic, and well people have UN, n-pulse, and classic for that.
It has spells, instruments, an awesome gui, all the things a great RP server would want, heck, even it's on calendar system, so i really think if you went RP it you would get alot more.

SL is not RP because of the fact that it was never a RP server. The idea of bringing back the original map was to go back to SL's roots as a fun pk server. That was my goal when re-leasing it.

unless it gets some kind of really awesome PK things, i doubt it will get much of a playercount, because people have era and UN for PK, i know it would help it alot, but whatever x__X

I don't know what UN has far as "pk things".

But the weapons and spells are there to help in that department. There is something else being worked on to help in that department as well.

That's good, it's just sad to see a server with so much talent wanting to be another server where all you do is press a button and a number raises in your profile so you can tell people how much you "pwn"

Erh? The entire idea of sL:Reborn (in my eyes when developing it) was to NOT be like all the other pk servers. With the weaps., good storyline that follows through and non-lame quests, and some other things I thought of but never had finished when I quit manager.

How can it not be like other PK servers?
no matter what you do, a pk server is a pk server, you make money, buy weapons, kill.

A server being PK depends on the players.
Classic could be RP if the players agreed to it.

I dont think SL is like every other PK server, it is unique in it's own right. the story line is awesome, and it does carry through to the rest of the server. I find myself wanting to go explore some more to see what part of the story I will reveal next.

you could definately do your own RP'ing on this server if a few people would get together and decide they wanted to do that, a server doesnt have to be an RP server for people to RP, right?
I personally dont like RP servers, and I am glad there are both kindsw of servers still for people to choose from

The levels are simple classic levels, but are well done from what I have seen, and they make good use of tiles, and lighting.

SL gets a thimbs up in my eyes :grin:

nice, other than I notice a few ideas are the same we are currently working on for EoA

I have no problems with both PWs having some of the same things, since we developed them apart from eachother... as long as no-one tries to say we stole it

the GUI could use some work...

I always liked SL, other than the low playercount

it was so much better when mostly only good PKers played there, and it seemed like no-one else knew it existed.

you know this server was made as a pk server in start and has always been one.

The gui is there for no reason other than to look pretty and whatever.
