Spark910 has a spectacular aura about
NC Backup

Its been said many a time, but it REALLY needs to be added. It would be great and useful. There needs to be a way to backup all the files quickly so you dont have to open them all and save manually each NPC. Such as a ''backup all'' button to download every script in a file such as TXT.

A way to back up scripts would be nice and if people arn't going to use it that's their problem.
It's them that will be taking the chance of losing the work that has been done.
I don't see why people wouldn't use it.
But couldn't you just backup the script when you first make it.
Would be much simplier, plus it wouldn't be as much work as you would only be backing up one script at a time, not having to go through NC getting them all which I think is the reason people don't back up the older scripts they have.

A simple Backup option would be nice though. Particularly if, say, you wanted to try something completely new or you suspected one of your admins was going bad or if your levels admin decides to strike out on his own and make a new world based off the one he built for you - one button, downloads all graphics, levels, arcfiles as necessary, serverstrings, database NPC attributes, NPC classes, etc. Takes a few hours I'd imagine, bound to lag the server, only available to the owner, only available once a week, only advisable during a slow spell, you zip it, put it on a CDR, then if something goes horribly wrong you restore it over the course of a few hours.

Of course, I believe there's a directory into which all classes are saved as text files - what I propose is basically copying everything off File Manager...

yea but I used to sit there for 1/2 hour a day just backing up database and weapons. it gets very annoying after a while for people like me who actually back up everything they do often =D
