Player World hosting

Player World Hosting system is coming soon.

My actual plan is to give all tools to manage a playerworld including:

- Disque Space between 100MB to 500MB
- Web hosting (Frontpage, file manager ... )
- Email system
- Graal server + Npcserver
- Remote control + tools to start/stop/monitor the playerworld
- CPANEL control panel to manage everything
- Billing system

The basic plan will include 100MB hard drive + Graal server but no NPCserver

The most complete plan will include 500MB + Npcserver running on a BI-Xeon computer.

Playerworld managers will choose to let the server open (still need a classic lifetime account to play), private, or subscription based.

Subscription based mean you have to spend coins to play, each gold or vip account will receive some coins to start with, this coins will give discount to player world manager to pay monthly fees.

Also each month best player world will receive a bonus of coins.

I will be interested to known who plan to open a player world and what can be the good price, payment will be done with paypal so you can group to take a player world.

I will not accept any SPAM in this thread, each message not interesting will be deleted.

Thanks for your help.

This sounds pretty nice. Will these be included with the Adminpanel, or will a new tool be made?

Will all those features be modular? Like, can someone who wishes to "purchase" a playerworld get a checklist where he/she can choose what exactly is needed, or will there only be several plans to choose from?
Will it be easy for an existing playerworld to change the plan?

Quote:

Just let me make sure that I understand this the right way.
Open = all classic lifetimes accounts can play, and the PW manager has to pay a lot
Private = like open, but only accessible for people selected by the PW manager
Subscription based = Only people who have coins from buying a gold/vip upgrade can play, and these will lessen the costs for the PW manager.
Is it like this?

I see a problem with this, as someone could spend all his coins on several playerworlds, and as they still have gold time left on their account, they do not want to reupgrade already as they can still play on the gold servers.
I would suggest to make "PW coins" a seperate subscription, if I understood this right.

Hm, this grouping seems to be a good idea. Not only could a playerworld's staff share the cost easily, but also multiple playerworlds could be motivated to merge and combine their efforts.
Can you tell us a rough estimate, how much you expect as a price?
I do not want to give a suggestion and later on be flamed for suggesting far too less or too much :|

In short... yes, i would be interested, but a lot would have to do with the cost... If it's too much, then we might just wait another month or two, and try to get up with the PWA... but if it's a desent price, then I think it is very possible

*edit* also, could there be an option without the e-mail, and webhosting? So it could be cheaper? because we already have hosting, e-mail addresses, and stuff

Maybe a suggestion: Let the playerworld owners pay for a domain with credits, if say, the person cannot get ahold of a credit card or is underage.

I like the payment idea! Thats pretty nice!

Hmm Unix I dont think you should step over $10 a month for now!

23 PWs:
Thats a possible $230 a month.

Well Unix you really need to think what it is you want to cover with payment costs, and if you still want to pay some yourself.

And shouldnt the NPC Server be included anyway? As ever PW has one, so if they cant afford it and you have to take it away! x_X

Maybe NPC Server in basic package, but get some knocked off if you dont want one.

I am interested in opening up a playerworld (100MB Option), But my opinion on what the price should be is around the cost of dial up access in U.S. currency which is standardly $19.95.

here's what i'd like...
-----------
- Graal server + Npcserver
- Remote control + tools to start/stop/monitor the playerworld
- CPANEL control panel to manage everything
- Billing system

for $20 a month
-----------
I think the webspace, and e-mail, and stuff should be an additional package that you could buy for like $10 a month extra (which is really cheap compared to other places)

since my PW already has a website, and host, and e-mails... I don't need that, so i don't think I should have to pay for something we already have

Why make it an additional package? you'd just pay more. Take it as one package for the same price!

I must say, I am not pleased, if this is how it works for every playerworld.

Will there still be a system for "exceptional" PWs to get online and private for free?

As in, PWs like Oasis will not be charged? Or what? Because those kinds of PWs will probably be more of a benefit to Graal, rather then entertainment for the maker...not to mention I doubt with the ammount of time people take on QUALITY Pws, they will pay for it.

Personally, and I don't care if people don't see my world as quality or not, I would not buy a subscription to this as I have no money to spend on this. I hope there will be some exceptions for exceptional worlds x-x.

But, enough of what I think on terms of it being implemented...here is what I believe the prices should be, to keep low quality worlds away.

Simple Package - 30$/month
Large Package - 60$/month

Dunno, if I was talking what people would WANT to pay, I would say...

Simple Package - 15$/month
Large Package - 35$/month

I'm thinking about getting one but it just depends on if I feel the price range is reasonable or not. For me if one of the packages are within the $10-$20 (us currency) I will more than likely be purchasing one.

Also is there an estimated time of release for this? Like about a month, weeks, a few months, no idea. Not asking for a definate date but just maybe a date that if everything goes well you would like to have it ready by.

I do not think it is going to be that expensive. Until now, Graal seemed to survive with "free" playerworld hosting. The additional features should not require a lot of resources, and therefore I think that a PW with all features will cost $10/month maximally.

Well, It depends on the price. I live in Canada so the price will be higher. If it's more then 30 (CAN) I most likely wont buy it, otherwise I'm all for.

The price in Canada will be exactly the same as everywhere else, most likely. Not counting taxes for exporting money or stuff.

If you're going to get into the $10+ range, Graal has to take on a totally new concept and perspective of playterworld managment. These "omg UN sucksxsor" and" omg soem staff haxed mah accout I need helop! he stoel teh server" will have to stop, or there must be a foolproof safegaurd against these things. Professionalism is the key here. If I was a customer paying 10+ a month for my playerworld, I would not expect to wait 5-7 days for someone to take action or necessary or wait for an inquiry that could take a couple weeks before a decision is made.

Other than that, the idea is theoretically good.

I suppose so, although i wouldnt be sure! It would be a good idea! I think all PWs should have a website like graalonline.com that they can use (same layout)

From my understanding - you pay to create (add to serverlist) a playerworld.

What I got from it is there will be three different types of servers.

1. Gold Servers - Don't really concern players about paying to stay up
2. Regular Server - Players with a classic upgrade can play. Staff pay a price say $10 for example a month to keep it up.
3. Other Server - Manager chooses to make it the "other" category. This means players must buy tokens to play here. Each token would probally represent so much time. Due to this the staff of the server do not need to pay full price to stay up. THey may only need to pay 5$ a month for example.

Personally I don't reaaly see the point in server type 3 unless the price to keep the server up is high. Other than that I think the majority will be type 2.

Although I do think it is a good way to both improve the quality of player worlds and to reduce the number of empty player worlds on the server list. That way people won't want to be paying to keep something up that no one but staff use.

10 Bucks a month is too cheap. Even some web hosting companies charge more then that and you can make your own playerworld here and be owner so it should atleast be 20 Bucks + a month and there should be a option where you can subscribe your PW for 3,6,12 months and maybe get a little discount

I am completelly against the servers having a choice to be gold. Gold servers are supposed to be the professional servers made by the company Cyberjoueurs, not some random world made by idiots who have a lot of money to spare (no offense to anyone who can make a high quality world that is willing to pay)

where was it said that by paying, your server would become gold?
=X

I think it would be like this... there are:

Gold
Classic
Pay (within pay, there are private, public, and that coin thingy)

I would like to buy 1 month private, and 1 month of the coin thingy (to make it cheaper), for maybe $35 total? and none of that website stuff =x because this is what i want, and that's the price i think is fair for it

I know I probably won't get it... but that is what i am interested in....

Think:
Get rid of all PWs which have a Playercount less then
80 in their best time (Atlantis doesn't count its german <.<)
Era Unholy and Atlantis left.

20 people buy a Playerworld for 10$/month:
Thats 200$/month :O

Thats 2400/year

But yes there need to be a way to pay with EC Cards
or other popular non Credit Card-PayPal.

Does the Playerworlds get hostet by Cyberjouers?

Someone said while talking on aim:

''Do the PWs that are already up get anything secial for being up''

ALSO:
I think we should gradually introduce payments!!
Say it going to be $10 a month...

First Month: $2.50
Second Month: $6
Third Month: $10

^ Also gives people a chance to save up money if they dont have alot right now.

Most of this sounds like a good plan. But when playerworld managers and staff help build something that players like, what is their reward? There will be these coins going to the server I guess as a vote to keep it up but shouldnt the management be rewarded some how? They are the people who are attracting the players.

Well, Unixmad, some of us have trouble registering to the help desk. It keps saying that all the names I try to register with are invalid. I also sent you a few emails with no reply from them. And I was told by Angel that special people, like herself, are only allowed to talk to you on ICQ, which I have no problem with as long as you would answer my emails.

Erm. So I'm guessing he expects everyone to rent their own server, then? :x

These coins are not for renting a playerworld, but for playing a PW of which the owner has decided that it shall be subscription based.

I have the same problem with the help desk...Unixmad answers my emails rather quickly, but stefan doesnt answer emails at all, and takes a long time to answer forum pm's (not bashing anyone here), probably because he is busy making the new graal client thingy....I am sure the emails, forum pm's, help desk emails, and so on are on overload...probably kinda hard to keep up with it all
