Regarding Oasis' Release

What's going on with Oasis? Will it be complete soon, does anyone know other than Konidias? I wouldn't mind hearing about an update or two every now and then. Hehe, there should be a newsletter. This is the only playerworld I look foward to.

Who knows. Koni is making it really good, as far as we've seen, but i don't even know if anyone besides Koni is working on it.

I heard it's just Konidias and another gfx person, and Falados helps when he has the time.

I assume progress will speed up a great deal when there's a full tileset, assuming there isn't one done yet from what I've seen from s/s.

Maybe 1 more year it will be done? Nobody knows.... only Koni does................

Hmm, no falados is really staff as well, in my opinion more so than that secret gfx guy.

Yeah Oasis is still in the works.

I'm making progress on it, and I might show some new snapshots soon. Falados helps with scripting and ideas, and Kinatt helps with gfx and stuff.

The forums well... they are dead. They were being hosted on azuretek or whatever, and apparently the guy who was hosting it just disappeared and the server died, so I don't think that forum is coming back. =T

Maybe I will start a newsletter or something soon, but it would be easier to just have a forum, maybe on this forum, to post stuff and have people reply. I'll think about it. Until then, prepare yourself for new screens!

Hehe Oasis will be a really good PW. Some screenshots really need to be released soon, haven't seen anything for a while. Hopefully some other info on it can be released as well

how come it always shows "Dedicated Servers" as selected in the menu when I choose different sections of hosting offers? and I can't find the real dedicated server page--is there one? can't click on "Dedicated Servers" since it's always selected

from what i was told falados doesnt do much and isnt very interested in it anymore. oasis doesnt have any scripters besides fal and probably wont be completed since all koni does is gfx and levels, and not so much npcs, at least not as good as he needs.

oasis has been in the works for years and new enigma only a few months and were already further, oasis was good idea but im afraid it wont be ne more than just an idea.

Fool! Stefan has told me great things about Oasis!

In fact, when I asked Stefan how Oasis got up, he said it had alot of nice graphics and very nice NPCs. VERY NICE NPCS! Guess what that means. That means Konidias is good with NPCs. In fact, I bet he is better then me if he applied himself. So yes, they do have scripters.

I really don't care about your "new enigma" stuff, and I doubt anyone else does. If you can create someone as low as enigma, you won't be capable of making a quality game.

Wc, why dont you quit while your ahead. This is an Oasis thread, not "enigma is so god-like to oasis, lets brag and try and get people to come to engima" thread. Back on topic.

Oasis will be excellent, i've got some graphics from oasis, (no worries koni, i wont give away) and i can tell you, there excellent. I would like to see some of the scripts, but i dont think we will see them till its release.

Falados has helped with the chat text boxes, the smilies, and message boxes, mainly menu/chat display stuff. Kaimetsu helped me start off the ring inventory system, and Loriel provided his improved movement system. Fal has been working on the baddies but isn't currently doing anything because I'm in the process of finishing some gani's and graphics so that he can proceed with his scripting, so he is waiting on me.

I pretty much scripted half of Oasis so far. That includes about 80% of the inventory system, the entire status, etc. I'm not the best scripter, but I can get what I need done if I have to, although it might not be as efficient as something Falados, Loriel, or Kaimetsu could create, it would still work and do what it is supposed to do.

I owe a lot of thanks to the people that have helped me so far, and no Oasis isn't dead, I've just been busy and things have been a lot slower, but I have a lot of free time now, so things will get done.

As for how long Oasis has been in development... I think I started like February of last year or something? So it's been about a year and a month or so... But I don't even count the 4 months I was staff on 2k2 because I didn't work on Oasis at the time. So really only about 9 months. The stuff is so detailed and complex it just takes a really long time to make. I'm sure it would get done faster if I had a team of people, or if I had a lot of time to work on it it all day, but still, making a body system with like 30 gani attributes and fluid movement takes a LOT of time.

Give him time, I think when he does release some screenshots, it will amaze everyone.

And Koni, it doesnt matter if you cant script as good as those other guys, just as long as the script is worthing seeing, and it amazes people.

Attached is the torso front arm movement gani. This is only one direction of the gani, and about half a dozen attributes go over top of this.

With Oasis bodies, the torso and arms are attached. The arms are not seperated, because it loses the illusion of a solid form, and makes it seem like a wooden doll and not a fleshy object.
