All the things that the system says stuff is made out of is messed up. (Wow, that sentence is confusing.) Just right click almost anything. You'll see like, "pile of salt this is made of organics, glass" or something.

Not an intrinsic component, but I guess it depends. Pure salt is just sodium hydroxide.

There's actually a fifth element, making up things they could not explain .. things in the heavens and what not .. if I'm not mistaken, then element was called .. I can't remember! :o

Sand = finely crushed rocks.
Glass = heated up sand molded into a shape.
Theoretically, you are correct, but the composition of the object was changed because of heat, so glass actually = stone+heat.

.. err. Heat is not a componant of something. Glass is comprised of stone, end of story ..

It was found in the philosiphers stone as solid, and the elixir(sp?) of life as a liquid.

Heat can change things, like an enzyme, with enough heat, it becomes denatured, and no longer functions properly. And by sating heat + stone, I refer to the addition of heat to it, not that heat is a physical object that can be mixed in.

Obviously lines need to be drawn. We could say that glass is made of protons and neutrons (or quarks and gluons, even), but it wouldn't really tell us much. It seems reasonable to me that a glass figurine should be reported as being made of glass rather than stone, simply because the concepts we usually associate with the words 'glass' and 'stone' have drastically different properties.
