Lightbulb Graal2001, 3D.

Mainly an Idea, Stefan Said it would be fun, Unix has not responded yet.
The thread is mainly getting public support and ideas for Graal2001 3D (hope to be) Project

Imagine, comming out of the adminhouse, and staring to the west to see Dustari Castle high on top of its shoreline Clifs, or traversing the steep terrain of Mt Antoria. Glaring out at the farmlands in Sanetarian or diving under the ocean for tresure deep below. Rather then seeing this though the eyes of an egle, seeing all this though your charachters eyes.

Graphics being simple, nothing realistic, staying to graals oriinal graphics for textures, you would emerse yourself in the world of 2001, Watching the sun rise and set over the horizen. Slashing someone with your sword in a sparring arena.

With a remaping of the world with places that actualy have insides, no nameless towns or emty additions. Econmy balanced and hats not being the center of the universe. Playing Capture the flag and dashing though brush and trees to get back to your base.

Loriel has a written skill point system, so not every single person is the same, as well as bomy.
(need to get him to post it)

To bring back the joy that 2001 once had, but in a more refined and Grand way.

Ehem.
Thats my dream. *runs*

Look at Graal2001 now... There isn't exactly alot of development going. What makes you think Jeff and team would start over on a new project when they haven't made alot of improvements on their current project.

I never said jeff or the current team would be involved. Nor did I say they would not be.

It takes a whole new set of developmental skills to work in 3D, along with being able to think in 3D. Not saying that they cant, I personaly don't know any of them.

And there has been no new management after I left thats kept 2001's population above 80. Last year it had 120 people on normaly when loriel and I managed.

Not to Sound mean or anything, but there's been no show and tell that the current staff can realy brag about on 2k1. But thats just my biast opinyon because 2k1 is not what it used to be last year.

I would certainly be willing to be involved, though I would much prefer realistic graphics....I have this craving to see newmain in realistic 3D. It can reflect Graal style (i.e. have the appearance of pics1-based tiling though with higher detail) and still be realistic.

Re: Graal2001, 3D.

Really, I think it'd be awesome if the project was really able to take off, but I just don't see it happening. Of course, I may be underestimating your talent/dedication to it. But then, there's so much more that needs to be done. You couldn't exactly change the current world into 3D and leave it at that, because in its current state, it's nothing too brilliant.

This is what really interests me. I love the idea of playing in a true, 3D, cartoon-like Graal with vivid colors and familiar objects. What I dislike most about the new Graal 3D engine is that it tries to mimic reality, with correctly proportioned bodies and realistic environments -- I just don't care for it too much.

The players are just models, you can make brand new ones, same goes with any engine, and you can always adjust how everything looks.

Loriel-made Attributes system, under construction.
Attributes define the success of the player's action in game. They are split into Stats and Skills. Stats are the main categories. Related to each Stat, there are various skills. The limit for each Stat is 20, while the maximum for all of them together is 45. Skills have different limits according to their importance or complexity in game.
NPC Code:
   Strength Agility Intelligence
HUMAN SKILLS
Mining Ironworking Baking
Swordfighting Woodworking Fishing
Taming Archery
SHARED SKILLS
Riding Magic
BOMY SKILLS
Kicking Spin-Digging Taming
Fire Breath

This is just a rough idea, and will be advanced and improved and enhanced and inl33ted etc.

haha.

The stat system is not based on EXP.

Rather doing tasks quests, per say, getting your first 5 points will be like, getting your first hour online, or killing someone in your first spar.

So its a way as loriel put it, "To not make all players the same"
So each person has their upsides and downsides, not everyone can do everything the person next to them can.

That's too much like 2K2.

2K2 will always outclass 2K1 in fields that 2K2 has. 2K1 needs to be based on what 2K2 doesn't have.

I dispise leveling up on 2k2, thats why we are not going to take that mmorpg cast for it.

We are having the same things, but hats wont be like they were before.
The server will become more social, there will be more games to play and kingdom wars will be game like rather then so rpish. There will be 4 kingdoms still but based on what 2k1 had.

But the kingdoms wont be as disorganized or closed community as they were before, still have not done any kingdom revision or anything like that. But with kingdom war games the leader will command the troops and have a small RTS game but it will be done over a lengthy period.

2k1Cubed will be based on games, and fps experances. Coummity and slight role playing, exploration, discovery and adventure.

it's a good idea, do it, it will attract alot fo old players to graal, along with new ones, and it would also be SUPER FUN

I don't like the sounds of a 3D Graal server through first person view.
I'm not the biggest fan of first person games.

Also errm...the reason you guys had more players is cause 2k2 wasn't what it is today not to mention it's eye candy to ****s in a comparison with other servers.

I don't want graphics that look like a several-year-old console game. This is, first off, a PC-based game and should use the full capabilities of thet platform, and second off, disproportionate bodies and blocky objects that should be round only look good in 2D.

Any port in a storm, but unrealistic 3D graphics have always been one of my pet peeves

They look sort of like The Phantom Menace.

Not that TPM wasn't a good game for its time, but the character models were a bit blocky. I'd like 3d newmain to look at least as good as Neverwinter Nights. Now THAT is a 3D game, though it's best if you can coax your computer to run it with Truform.
